Role Description The Data Center Engineer will be responsible for the day-to-day operation and maintenance of data center facilities in Petaling Jaya. This full-time, on-site role includes monitoring data center performance, performing routine inspections, and ensuring uptime of critical systems such as servers, network devices, and power and cooling equipment. The role involves handling cabling and rack installations, coordinating hardware deployment and decommissioning, and maintaining accurate documentation of assets and configurations. The Data Center Engineer will troubleshoot issues, provide technical support to internal teams and clients, and escalate problems as needed to ensure timely resolution. The position also requires adherence to safety, security, and compliance standards while supporting capacity planning and improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Candidates should possess skills in Data Center Operations and Data Center Infrastructure, including monitoring, maintenance, and asset management.
  • Candidates should possess skills in Troubleshooting and Technical Support, with the ability to diagnose and resolve hardware and infrastructure issues.
  • Candidates should possess skills in Cabling, including structured cabling, cable management, and rack organization.
  • Strong understanding of server, storage, and networking concepts; experience with common data center hardware and tools is beneficial.
  • Ability to follow standard operating procedures, maintain documentation, and work safely in an on-site data center environment.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to coordinate activities with cross-functional technical and operations teams.
  • Relevant technical certification (e.g., CompTIA Server+, Network+, or equivalent) or diploma/degree in IT, Computer Engineering, or related field is an advantage.
  • Willingness to work in shifts or on-call rotations, as required for data center operations and incident response.
