Java Engineer | Elite Asset Management Team | Hong Kong
I’m working with a leading global asset manager that’s hiring a Java Engineer for its expanding Hong Kong technology team. You’ll build modern services supporting trading, accounts, payments, settlement, reconciliation, and other business-critical workflows.
This is an excellent opportunity to take ownership of high-impact systems within a well-established investment business undergoing significant technology growth.
What You’ll Be Doing- Design and build production-grade backend services using Java or Python.
- Develop microservices, RESTful APIs, gRPC services, and system integrations.
- Build solutions supporting trading, accounts, payments, and post-trade processing.
- Develop workflows across settlement, reconciliation, cash management, and reporting.
- Work with product, business, frontend, mobile, infrastructure, and DevOps teams.
- Improve system performance, scalability, reliability, and maintainability.
- Own delivery from technical design through deployment and production support.
- 3+ years of commercial development experience in Java or Python backend engineering.
- Proficient in microservices, APIs, scheduled jobs, or batch-processing systems.
- Strong SQL skills and experience with MySQL, PostgreSQL, or similar databases.
- Solid foundations in object-oriented design, data structures, and clean code.
- Experience within securities, trading, wealth management, or financial services.
- Knowledge of middle-office or back-office workflows.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
- Experience with distributed, high-concurrency, or highly available systems.
- Exposure to low-latency trading or real-time data platforms.
- Knowledge of GraphQL, MongoDB, or other NoSQL databases.
- Experience with workflow orchestration tools such as Prefect or Luigi.
- Familiarity with modern CI/CD and Agile development practices.
- Build core technology supporting a growing global investment platform.
- Work across the complete trading and post-trade lifecycle.
- Take ownership of business-critical systems with visible impact.
- Modernise platforms using microservices and distributed architecture.
