About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Application Security Architect to join our Technology & Information Architectures team on a regional technology programme for a global energy organization focused on delivering sustainable energy solutions and innovative technologies. This role is responsible for reviewing and integrating application requirements — with a strong focus on security — across the application landscape, and for providing input into final decisions on application security architecture.

Key Responsibilities

Security Architecture & Requirements

• Review and integrate all application requirements, including security requirements, into the overall application architecture.
• Review and integrate application security technical architecture requirements, ensuring alignment with enterprise security standards.
• Provide input into final decisions regarding application security across the project landscape.
• Develop a thorough understanding of application security frameworks and contribute to enhancing security measures within the project.

Risk Identification & Mitigation

• Identify potential security risks and propose practical, actionable solutions to mitigate vulnerabilities in application architecture.
• Support application security assessments to evaluate and strengthen the security posture of deployed and in-development applications.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by analyzing security processes and recommending enhancements.

Subject Matter Expertise & Collaboration

• Perform independently as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in application security, contributing actively to team discussions and providing solutions to work-related problems.
• Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams (development, infrastructure, enterprise architecture, and business stakeholders) to ensure security requirements are clearly communicated and implemented.
• Support the wider team by sharing insights and knowledge gained from hands-on experience with security technologies and practices.

Enterprise Integration & Platform Security

• Apply understanding of Enterprise Application Integration (EAI) principles to assess and secure integration points across the application landscape.
• Support security architecture reviews involving SAP BTP (Business Technology Platform) and SAP S/4HANA environments.

Required Skills & Experience

Mandatory

• Intermediate proficiency in SAP BTP (Business Technology Platform) Security.
• Strong foundational knowledge of application security principles, frameworks, and best practices.
• Experience reviewing and integrating application and security requirements within enterprise architecture contexts.
• Ability to work independently as a subject matter expert, contributing to key technical and security decisions.
• Strong analytical skills for identifying security risks and proposing practical mitigation strategies.

Preferred Technical Skills

• Intermediate proficiency in SAP S/4HANA Security.
• Intermediate proficiency in Application Security, Enterprise Application Integration (EAI), and Application Security Assessment.
• Familiarity with security architecture frameworks and enterprise integration security patterns.
• Experience with security risk assessment methodologies and vulnerability management.
