Responsibilities
Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced Spray Painter / Sprayman to join our production team.
The Sprayman will be responsible for preparing, spraying and finishing various VM (Visual Merchandising), window display, retail display, event props and fabrication items. The candidate must be able to produce a clean, smooth and consistent finishing according to project requirements.
Key Responsibilities
* Prepare surfaces by sanding, cleaning, filling and applying primer before spraying.
* Spray paint on MDF, plywood, wood, metal, acrylic, plastic and fabricated display items.
* Mix paint, thinner, hardener, primer and topcoat according to required specifications.
* Handle PU, NC, acrylic and other suitable coating systems.
* Perform colour matching according to client/project requirements, including Pantone or approved colour samples.
* Apply primer, base coat, colour coat and topcoat evenly.
* Ensure high-quality finishing with minimum defects.
* Perform touch-up and rework when necessary.
* Identify and correct defects such as:
* Orange peel
* Runs / sagging
* Dust contamination
* Uneven colour
* Pinholes
* Dry spray
* Scratches and surface imperfections
* Operate and maintain spray guns, compressors, hoses and related equipment.
* Ensure spray equipment is cleaned properly after use.
* Check completed work before handing over to the production/project team.
* Follow project deadlines and production schedules.
* Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the spray area.
* Follow all company safety procedures and wear appropriate PPE when handling paint and solvents.
* Assist the production team with other fabrication/finishing work when required.
* Be willing to work overtime, night shifts or at project sites when required.
Requirements
* Minimum 2 years of experience as a Spray Painter / Sprayman.
* Experience in furniture, display, signage, carpentry or fabrication spraying is highly preferred.
* Experience spraying MDF, plywood, wood and metal is an advantage.
* Good knowledge of surface preparation and sanding techniques.
* Good spray gun handling skills.
* Able to mix paint and understand basic paint ratios.
* Able to perform basic colour matching.
* Able to identify and rectify common spray-paint defects.
* Good attention to detail.
* Able to work independently with minimum supervision.
* Physically fit and able to stand for long periods.
* Responsible, punctual and willing to learn.
* Able to work as part of a production team.
