Role Description The R&D Technical Designer is a full-time, on-site role based in Sungai Buloh. This role involves developing and refining office furniture designs from concept through to production, including creating detailed technical drawings and specifications. The designer will collaborate closely with R&D, engineering, and production teams to ensure designs are feasible, cost-effective, and aligned with safety and quality standards. Daily tasks include prototyping, material and component selection, updating design documentation, and supporting continuous improvement of existing product lines. The role also requires problem-solving in manufacturing processes, participation in product testing, and providing technical input for design enhancements and new product introductions.

Qualifications

• Strong technical design skills, including proficiency in CAD software and the ability to produce accurate drawings and 3D models for furniture or product design.
• Knowledge of materials, manufacturing processes, and construction methods relevant to office furniture or related industries.
• Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, communicate design intent clearly, and incorporate feedback from R&D, engineering, and production.
• Attention to detail in documentation, with skills in organizing specifications, bills of materials, and design revisions.
• Problem-solving and analytical abilities to address design and production issues and support continuous product improvement.
• Diploma or degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
• Prior experience in furniture design, product development, or manufacturing environments is an advantage.
• Willingness to work on-site in Sungai Buloh and engage in hands-on activities such as prototype evaluation and product testing.
