Job Title: Associate Financial Analyst, GFS

LOB/Department: Finance/Global Finance Support

Location: Malaysia

Reports to: Director – Global Finance Support


Role Value Proposition


This position provides support for MetLife Finance systems and users globally. The position will be the subject matter expert for Finance processes and will be actively involved in their day to day execution, working closely with business partners to ensure finance objectives and deadlines are met. This position will also play a key role in the implementation of enhancements and initiatives in an effort to continually improve the efficiency of process and controls within the systems supported.


Key Responsibilities


  • Provides senior subject matter expertise for MetLife’s Finance systems (WorkDay Finance, PeopleSoft, Hyperion Suite, Essbase) in support of Finance users.
  • Responsible for day to day management of complex financial processes and associated tasks in coordination with the business and deliverable calendars.
  • Acts as a point of escalation for complex issues and problems and conducts or coordinates research and/or resolution.
  • Support the adoption, administration, and continuous improvement of Microsoft Power Platform and AI tools, including user enablement, issue resolution, governance alignment, and identification of automation opportunities.
  • Coordinates problem management including root cause analysis and formulation of action plans to prevent reoccurring problems.
  • Develops business requirements, approves specifications, documents procedures & processes, tests transactions, and assists in implementation as team leader/project manager or as a subject matter expert on cross functional IT/business teams developing financial systems or financial accounting transactions and controls within administrative systems.
  • Acts with very little direction. Communicates unresolved problems to management.
  • Interacts with internal and external customers.
  • May provide training and guide the activities of entry-level staff members.
  • Partners with peers both in region and globally to ensure seamless service and escalation, uniformity of processes, and continued encouragement of process improvement and LEAN initiatives.


Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills


Required Experience


  • Minimum of 5-8 year’s total experience providing user/systems support, preferably in the Finance industry. Strong demonstrated analytical, interpersonal, communications, prioritization, time and project management skills.
  • BA/BS degree, preferably in Computer Science/Information Systems, Finance, Accounting, OR equivalent experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of MetLife’s Finance functions, processes and systems (PeopleSoft, Hyperion Suite, Essbase).
  • Strong proficiency with computer systems, PC’s and financial software applications (i.e. spreadsheets, financial modeling software). Strong knowledge of accounting concepts, principles and practices.
  • Ability to present and communicate concisely and clearly with conclusions and recommendations in a manner that both financial & non-financial audiences can understand.


Preferred Experience:


  • Experience with the ITIL Framework and processes, LEAN principles and ability to identify, design, and implement process improvements.
  • Strong MS Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint capabilities.
  • Background in the creation and analysis of metrics, KPIs and service levels.
  • Adaptable to various work situations; ability to work well with others across all levels of management and geographies.
  • Strong presentation skills.
  • Completion of, or working towards CPA or MBA highly desired.
