Responsibilities
Job Summary:
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Secondary School English Teacher to join our team. The successful candidate will deliver high-quality instruction across Lower Secondary, Cambridge IGCSE, AS/A Level, IELTS, or IBDP English courses. This role plays an essential part in developing students’ literacy, analytical, and critical thinking skills, while supporting their overall academic and personal growth.
Key Responsibilities:
Teaching & Learning:
Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging English lessons that align with Cambridge IGCSE, AS/A Level, or IBDP standards.
Create a supportive and inclusive classroom that encourages literary appreciation and critical inquiry.
Use differentiated instructional strategies to meet diverse learning needs.
Monitor, assess, and report on student progress using formative and summative assessment methods.
Provide timely and constructive feedback to support student improvement.
Promote independent learning, research, and academic writing skills.
Pastoral & Student Development:
Support students’ academic, emotional, and social well-being.
Build strong relationships with students, providing individualized guidance and mentorship.
Encourage resilience, a growth mindset, and a strong work ethic.
Collaboration & Professional Development:
Collaborate with colleagues in curriculum planning and development.
Participate in department meetings, school events, and ongoing professional development.
Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress.
Contribute to extracurricular activities such as debate, drama, or literary societies.
Requirements:
Qualifications & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in English or a related field (minimum)
Recognized teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, B.Ed., or equivalent)
Minimum 3 years of relevant teaching experience
Experience with Cambridge IGCSE, AS/A Level, or IBDP preferred
Skills & Competencies:
Fluent English speaker with strong verbal and written communication skills
In-depth knowledge of English literature and academic writing
Strong classroom management and instructional differentiation skills
Passion for teaching and student development
Preferred:
Experience in international school settings
Familiarity with educational technology tools
Previous involvement in extracurricular or leadership roles
