Site Project Engineer – GIS & Maintenance

Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Site Project Engineer – Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS) & Maintenance to support electrical utility infrastructure projects in Singapore.

The successful candidate will support GIS installation, extension and maintenance activities, working closely with site teams and Project Management to ensure all works are completed safely, efficiently and in accordance with project and utility requirements. The position requires a combination of hands-on site coordination, electrical technical knowledge, safety management and project reporting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise daily site activities involving Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS) installation, extension and routine maintenance.
  • Provide technical supervision and guidance for GIS-related site activities, equipment testing and system integrity checks.
  • Inspect electrical installation works and ensure compliance with project specifications and applicable utility requirements.
  • Identify and troubleshoot technical issues arising during site installation and maintenance activities.
  • Coordinate closely with site teams, contractors and relevant stakeholders to ensure activities are completed according to project schedules.
  • Act as an authorized signatory for applicable Permit-to-Work (PTW) activities.
  • Conduct and review risk assessments for high-risk GIS maintenance and extension works.
  • Ensure strict adherence to electrical, site and workplace safety requirements, particularly when working within high-voltage and restricted environments.
  • Serve as the key coordination point between field/site teams and the Project Management team.
  • Support the Project Manager in monitoring project progress, site activities and resource requirements.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate site reports, progress updates, site logs and maintenance documentation.
  • Report site challenges, technical issues and project risks to the Project Manager in a timely manner.
  • Ensure all works are completed in accordance with required quality, safety and project standards.

Requirements

  • Diploma or Degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • Relevant experience in project engineering, site engineering or field service within electrical utility, high-voltage or infrastructure environments.
  • Practical exposure to Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS) systems.
  • Experience supporting GIS installation, extension and/or preventative maintenance activities.
  • Good fundamental understanding of electrical systems and high-voltage equipment.
  • Experience working within substations, electrical infrastructure or utility environments would be advantageous.
  • Must possess valid PSM-SP (Process Safety Management – SP Group) and CSOC (Construction Safety Orientation Course) certifications.
  • Familiarity with Permit-to-Work systems, risk assessments and electrical/site safety procedures.
  • Strong site coordination, documentation and progress-reporting capabilities.
  • Able to communicate technical site observations clearly to Project Management and other stakeholders.
  • Able to work independently in a field/site environment while maintaining accountability for project deadlines, safety and quality.
  • Must possess own reliable transportation to travel regularly between project sites and the office.
