Candidate Profile

This role is ideal for students, recent graduates, or early-career designers who have:

• Up to 2 years of professional design experience; internship, freelance, and project-based work also welcome 
• A proactive attitude with a strong sense of self-initiative and ownership 
• Strong visual design skills, including layout, spacing, hierarchy, brand expression, and a good grasp of user-centered design principles 
• Good layout judgment across screens, slide decks, and print-style materials 
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-moving environment with multiple priorities 
• Interest in education technology, workflow-oriented products, or design for real operational use cases 

Technical Requirements

• Foundational UI/UX skills, including information architecture, interaction design, visual hierarchy, typography, and accessibility best practices 
• Proficiency in Figma for UI design, layout, collaboration, and prototyping 
• Ability to translate requirements and product goals into user flows, low- and high-fidelity mock-ups, and interactive prototypes 
• Strong visual layout sense across interface, presentation, and brand-related work 
• Comfort working across both structured product-design tasks and smaller visual-design requests 
• Fluent spoken and written English 

Especially helpful

• Experience designing presentation or slide decks 
• Experience creating website graphics, marketing visuals, or print collateral 
• Familiarity with branding fundamentals, including logos, iconography, and visual consistency 
• Experience in education technology, learning design, or workflow-oriented products 
• Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite for visual design, layout, and interface specification 
• Interest in using AI-assisted tools to improve design workflow, research, or iteration

3Sigma builds classroom analytics and assessment-support tools for schools and educators. We work closely with schools to improve visibility into student learning while fitting as smoothly as possible into existing teaching and assessment workflows.

We are an early-stage, founder-led education technology company with a small international team. Design contributors work closely with founders, product and engineering, and may contribute across both product interface design and broader visual communication needs.

Role Summary

We are looking for a motivated early-career designer who can contribute across both product design and visual communication design.

This role includes UI/UX work for product features and workflows, together with broader design support for website and landing-page visuals, presentation decks, simple brand collateral, logos and icons, business cards, and selected print or communication materials.

It is best suited to someone with a strong eye for visual design, solid layout judgment, and an interest in combining structured interface-design work with practical day-to-day design execution.

The successful candidate should be comfortable taking ownership of defined design tasks and carrying them through from requirements and initial concepts to developer-ready or final design output.

We can accommodate near-term academic or other commitments where appropriate, particularly during an initial trainee or contributor period.

Role Responsibilities

• Translating rough ideas into sketches, wireframes, mock-ups, interactive prototypes, and final design assets for new features and improvements 
• Collaborate with product, engineering, and other stakeholders on ongoing feature and product design initiatives 
• Participate in design reviews, contribute to ideation sessions, and help translate research or product insights into design decisions 
• Document design rationales, maintain component libraries, and contribute to shared design knowledge 
• Contribute to the design system and help maintain consistency across product interfaces 
• Maintain visual consistency across product UI, website materials, slide decks, and other design outputs 
• Conduct product, competitor, and market research to support product decisions, business discussions, and presentation materials 
• Create or refine website graphics, landing-page visuals, and other public-facing design assets 
• Support the layout and visual refinement of presentation decks, internal documents, and other communication materials, including print and branded communication materials 
• Help produce brand and communication materials, including logos, icons, business cards, print collateral, and related brand assets where needed 

Engagement Structure

Depending on candidate location, availability, experience, and the final arrangement, the opportunity may initially be structured on a trainee, part-time, contract, or independent-contractor basis, subject to applicable law.
