Job Description


We are looking for a dedicated and knowledgeable Industrial Relations Specialist to manage all aspects of Industrial and Employee Relations. The ideal candidate must have solid experience in a unionised environment, capable of handling domestic inquiries, collective bargaining, grievance management, and ensuring full compliance with Malaysia’s labour laws.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Manage all IR and ER functions including disciplinary cases, grievances, and counselling.
  • Lead and coordinate Domestic Inquiries (DI), investigations, and documentation.
  • Support and represent the company in collective bargaining and union negotiations.
  • Prepare, review, and advise management on HR policies, warning letters, and show cause notices.
  • Handle liaison with Labour Department, Industrial Relations Department, and external legal consultants.
  • Ensure compliance with the Employment Act 1955, Industrial Relations Act 1967, and Trade Union Act 1959.
  • Provide guidance and training to line managers on disciplinary procedures and compliance matters.
  • Support HR strategies related to employee engagement, workplace harmony, and communication.


Requirements:


Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in handling IR and ER within a unionised manufacturing environment.

Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, Law, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

  • Strong knowledge of industrial relations and employee relations practices, including experience with grievance handling, disciplinary procedures, and labor law compliance.
  • Skills in HR policy implementation, workplace investigations, and documentation, with attention to detail and confidentiality.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to build trust with employees, management, and external stakeholders; ability to manage conflict and facilitate resolution.
  • Ability to analyze IR/ER trends, prepare reports, and support data-driven recommendations for process and culture improvements.
  • Proactive, organized, and able to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, on-site environment.
  • Sound knowledge of Malaysian employment and industrial laws.
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and negotiation skills.
