Role Description The Senior Welding Engineer is a full-time, on-site role based in Singapore. This role oversees welding engineering activities for offshore topside modules and facilities, ensuring compliance with project specifications, international codes, and client requirements. Day-to-day responsibilities include developing welding procedures, conducting procedure qualification records (PQRs) and welder qualification tests (WQTs), and supporting production teams in resolving welding-related issues. The Senior Welding Engineer reviews design drawings, selects appropriate welding processes and consumables, and provides technical guidance to welding supervisors and quality control teams. The role also involves conducting root cause analysis of welding defects, supporting audits and inspections, collaborating with project management and engineering teams, and driving continuous improvement in welding quality, productivity, an

d safety.


Qualifications

  • Strong expertise in welding engineering for heavy fabrication and offshore structures, including welding process selection, procedure development, and consumable specification.
  • Proficiency in relevant welding codes and standards (e.g., AWS, ASME, ISO, API) and experience interpreting client specifications and project requirements.
  • Experience with procedure qualification records (PQRs), welder qualification tests (WQTs), and documentation control for welding activities.
  • Solid understanding of materials engineering, including carbon steel, low-alloy steel, stainless steel, and high-strength steels used in offshore applications.
  • Knowledge of non-destructive examination (NDE/NDT) methods, welding inspection practices, and coordination with quality assurance and quality control teams.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot welding defects, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective and preventive actions on the shop floor.
  • Experience working in offshore or shipyard environments, preferably on FPSO, FSO, FLNG, or FSRU projects.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to train and mentor welding personnel and coordinate with multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety, risk management, and adherence to company and regulatory HSE requirements.
