Role Description The Senior Relationship Manager, FI Banks Coverage, is a full-time, on-site role based in Greater Kuala Lumpur. This role is responsible for originating, developing, and managing strategic relationships with financial institution (FI) bank partners, including correspondent banks and payment networks, to support Monfi’s global banking and payment ecosystem. The Senior Relationship Manager will oversee account plans, negotiate commercial terms, coordinate onboarding and ongoing due diligence, and ensure that partner banks meet Monfi’s service, compliance, and risk standards. Day-to-day responsibilities include monitoring transaction flows and performance, resolving operational and service issues with FI partners, collaborating with product, risk, compliance, and treasury teams, and identifying new partnership opportunities that enhance multi-currency and cross-border capabilities. The role also includes preparing regular performance and risk reports, representing Monfi in partner meetings and industry forums, and supporting the continuous improvement of FI coverage strategies and processes.
Qualifications
- Strong experience in financial institution relationship management, preferably in FI banks coverage, correspondent banking, transaction banking, or corporate banking.
- Solid knowledge of cross-border payments, multi-currency accounts, liquidity management, and digital banking products.
- Understanding of banking regulations, AML/CFT requirements, sanctions screening, and compliance frameworks relevant to FI relationships.
- Proven skills in negotiation, stakeholder management, and commercial deal structuring with institutional partners.
- Ability to analyze financial and transactional data, assess partner performance, and prepare clear management reports.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to work effectively across product, risk, compliance, legal, and operations teams.
- Experience working in or with digital banks, fintechs, or technology-driven financial institutions is highly beneficial.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Economics, or a related field; advanced qualifications (e.g., MBA, professional certifications) are an advantage.
