Full Time Development Engineer-Manager – Permanent Magnets Jobs, in SM2 Consulting Johor Bahru - Ricebowl

We are currently partnering with a global advanced materials manufacturer specialising in rare-earth magnetic materials and permanent magnets to recruit Development Engineering talent for their operations in Johor Bahru, Malaysia.

We are hiring at different seniority levels, from experienced individual contributors through to Senior Manager / Director-level profiles, depending on experience. Regardless of seniority, we are looking for candidates who remain technically hands-on and have strong knowledge of permanent magnet development and manufacturing.

The company develops and manufactures high-performance magnetic materials and permanent magnet solutions used across a range of advanced industrial and technology applications.

Key responsibilities:

• Develop and industrialise permanent magnet products and manufacturing processes
• Lead or support new product and process development from concept through to production
• Optimise magnet materials, formulations and manufacturing parameters
• Troubleshoot technical, process and product-performance issues
• Support scale-up, qualification and transfer of new products into manufacturing
• Work closely with R&D, Manufacturing, Quality and other technical teams
• Drive continuous improvement in product performance, quality and manufacturing capability

What we're looking for:

• Minimum 3 years of relevant engineering, R&D or product/process development experience
• Hands-on experience in permanent magnet manufacturing and/or development
• Experience with bonded magnets, sintered magnets and/or NdFeB
• Strong understanding of magnet materials, products and manufacturing processes
• Experience in product development, process development, industrialisation or NPI
• Strong technical troubleshooting and problem-solving capabilities
• Open to candidates at different seniority levels who remain technically hands-on
• Candidates currently based outside Malaysia are welcome to apply
