About SVA
SVA (Shouguang Vegetable AgVentures) is the operating platform for a premium fresh vegetable produce business established as a joint venture anchored by ACGT Sdn Bhd — a wholly owned subsidiary of Genting Plantations Berhad specialising in genomics, artificial intelligence, precision agriculture, controlled-environment farming, and sustainable food production — together with its joint-venture partner, CSV.
Based at the AgTech Campus in Kulai, Johor, the business is building a fully integrated farm-to-fork ecosystem spanning greenhouse and open-field cultivation, nursery and propagation, post-harvest handling, grading and packing, cold-chain logistics, and export-oriented agribusiness. The venture is positioned to supply premium fresh produce to domestic retail and high-value export markets, notably Singapore and the Middle East.The role is accountable for profitability, scalable growth, supply-chain excellence, and successful domestic and international market expansion, and serves as the principal executive interface between the Board and the operating organisation.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
Formulate and execute the long-term business plan, strategic vision, and annual operating budgets.
- Develop the overall business strategy and annual business plans, and cascade them into departmental objectives and KPIs.
- Achieve revenue, profitability, yield, and growth targets set by the Board.
- Lead expansion into domestic and export markets, notably Singapore and the Middle East.
- Drive innovation, mechanisation, and continuous improvement across the value chain.
- Build and steward strategic partnerships locally and internationally.
Operations & Commercial
Oversee end-to-end operations spanning production, R&D, supply chain, QA/QC, and commercial sales.
- Oversee business development and sales, and approve major commercial contracts, pricing, and market positioning.
- Develop and maintain strategic customer, distributor, and institutional-buyer relationships.
- Oversee production, post-harvest, logistics, and supply chain to ensure operational efficiency and cost discipline.
- Optimise production planning against market demand and harvest forecasts.
- Drive export-market penetration into high-value territories and secure key strategic partnerships.
Governance & Risk
Ensure strict regulatory compliance, financial governance, and adherence to corporate sustainability goals.
- Enterprise risk management and business continuity.
- ESG and sustainability compliance.
- Food safety and product-integrity governance (MyGAP, GlobalG.A.P., HACCP, Halal where applicable).
- Corporate governance, statutory compliance, and Board reporting.
Financial Management
- Prepare and defend annual budgets, forecasts, and business cases to the Board.
- Monitor profitability, margins, and unit economics across crops and channels.
- Manage CAPEX and OPEX, and prioritise capital allocation across production and infrastructure.
- Ensure long-term financial sustainability and healthy cash flow.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Agribusiness, Agriculture, Business Administration, Supply Chain, Engineering, or a related discipline. An MBA is an advantage.
Experience
- Minimum 15 years’ progressive leadership experience, with at least 5 years in a senior management or business-unit-head capacity.
- Proven P&L ownership of an agribusiness, fresh-produce, food-manufacturing, or FMCG operation of comparable scale.
- Demonstrated success in scaling operations and building export markets (Singapore and/or the Middle East highly preferred).
- Experience in controlled-environment agriculture, greenhouse production, or precision farming is a distinct advantage.
Skills & Competencies
- Strategic and commercial acumen, with the ability to translate vision into execution.
- Strong financial literacy — budgeting, CAPEX/OPEX management, and margin optimisation.
- Executive leadership, stakeholder management, and Board-level communication.
- Sound knowledge of food-safety, ESG, and Malaysian regulatory frameworks.
Language
- Professional proficiency in English, Mandarin and Bahasa Malaysia. Fluency in additional regional languages or dialects is an advantage.
