Microcosmic Advisory Limited Hiring! Full Time Java Programmer in Kowloon Peninsula, Hong Kong - Ricebowl

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Java Programmer to join our technical team in delivering and supporting critical IT systems. The successful candidate will participate in the full System Development Life Cycle (SDLC), including system design, coding, testing, deployment, and ongoing maintenance.

• Application Development: Design, develop, test, and deploy robust, high-performance Java-based applications according to technical specifications.

• Database Management: Write, optimize, and maintain complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and database schemas on Oracle or MariaDB, ensuring optimal query performance and data integrity.

• System Maintenance & Support: Troubleshoot and resolve production issues, including application bugs, database deadlocks, connection leaks, and performance bottlenecks.

• System Integration: Assist in integrating application components with third-party databases, platforms and APIs.

• Documentation: Prepare and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including system specifications, test plans, user manuals, and operational logs adhering to government standards.

• Collaboration: Work closely with Project Managers, Business Analysts, System Analysts, and client stakeholders to ensure deliverables meet project timelines and quality metrics.

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related discipline.

• At least 2 years of hands-on experience in Java software development. Proven experience in Core Java, J2EE/Jakarta EE, Spring / Spring Boot, or related Java frameworks.

• Solid experience working with Oracle or MariaDB databases, with proven proficiency in SQL programming, database indexing, query optimization, and data modeling.

• Good understanding of RESTful API design and microservices architecture.

• Experience with version control (Git), build tools (Maven / Gradle), and CI/CD pipelines.

• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and debugging skills.

• Good communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

• Self-motivated, disciplined, and able to work independently under tight deadlines.

• Good communication skills in English and Cantonese (written and spoken). Proficiency in Putonghua is an advantage.
