Senior Controls Engineer – SCADA / EPMS / Ignition

Senior SCADA / Controls Engineer wanted for mission-critical EPMS/PMS systems — Ignition, HMI, controls networks and substation automation.

Hands-on technical role covering design review, controls standards and system development across critical electrical infrastructure.

Own technical reviews, controls standards and system development across PMS, SCADA/HMI, Ignition and industrial networks within a highly engineered infrastructure environment.

About the role

You’ll act as a senior technical resource and client representative across controls and automation, reviewing contractor designs, maintaining engineering standards and supporting the ongoing development of critical controls platforms.

This is a strong fit for someone who combines hands-on controls knowledge with design assurance, standards development and technical leadership.

Key responsibilities

• Review new controls contractor work against established engineering standards.
• Review controls network architecture, technical submittals, drawings, SCADA and HMI applications.
• Maintain and update existing controls standards and technical specifications.
• Develop new standards, templates and repeatable controls solutions where required.
• Support the development, maintenance and improvement of Data Concentrator, SCADA and HMI systems.
• Explore and support development of new controls functionality.
• Maintain product documentation and prepare release packages and release notes.
• Provide technical project management support to the Controls team.
• Support controls design across:
• HV substations
• MV electrical yards
• MV mechanical yards
• LV buildings
• Develop controls documentation, programming tools and reusable code templates.
• Travel as required to support projects and technical reviews.

Requirements

• 5+ years’ controls / SCADA engineering experience, including strong exposure to EPMS/PMS and controls networks.
• Strong experience with Inductive Automation Ignition 8.1+ and Perspective.
• Strong understanding of SCADA, HMI and controls architecture within complex electrical or mission-critical environments.

Desirable

• IEC 61850 MMS, Modbus and/or DNP3.
• Siemens SICAM A8000.
• SEL RTAC platforms.
• Schneider EPO 2022.
• Git or other version-control systems.
