The $500B+ global agency services market is old and broken, and AI just blew the supply side open: 100+ AI-native services launched in the past year alone, with no platform connecting buyers to the new shape of supply. That gap has been open for years. We're building the company that fills it.
Role summary
You’ll own Matchii’s engineering strategy, technical architecture, and engineering organization as we scale.
Working closely with the founders and product team, you’ll turn product vision into a scalable, reliable, AI-native platform — while building the engineering team, culture, and systems needed for long-term growth.
This is a hands-on leadership role: you’ll lead from the front, stay close to architecture and critical technical decisions, and build a high-performing engineering organization from the ground up.
What You’ll Do
Define Matchii’s engineering strategy, architecture, and technical roadmap
Build, lead, and scale the engineering team — including hiring, mentoring, and developing senior talent
Own backend, data, infrastructure, and AI/agent architecture
Establish engineering standards across development, testing, security, observability, and reliability
Partner closely with founders and product leadership to translate business priorities into technical execution
Build a high-ownership, high-velocity engineering culture
Stay hands-on with critical systems and technical decisions when needed
What We’re Looking For
8+ years of software engineering experience with significant engineering leadership experience
Experience as a VP Engineering, Head of Engineering, Engineering Director, founding engineering leader, or equivalent
Strong backend and distributed systems background; Go, Python, or TypeScript
Deep experience with PostgreSQL, APIs, cloud infrastructure, and production systems
Experience building and scaling engineering teams in a startup or high-growth environment
Strong product sense and business judgment — able to connect technology decisions to company outcomes
Experience with AI/LLM, agent infrastructure, or AI-native products is a strong plus
Builder mindset: comfortable moving between strategy, architecture, people, and execution
