Position Overview:
At Asia School of Business, Action Learning (AL) is a cornerstone of both the MBA and EMBA programs, offering students exposure to real-world business challenges and opportunities to apply their learning beyond the classroom. The Associate Director of AL will work closely with the AL team, the Faculty Director of AL, and the Academic and Student Journey departments (i.e Career Development Office (CDO) and Mindset Lab) to provide strategic and operational leadership of AL programs. This includes sourcing for and scoping projects, overseeing the end-to-end management of experiential programs with global and local host partners, developing and monitoring program components, ensuring logistical excellence, and delivering reports and other program-related outputs in a timely manner. The role also requires strong stakeholder management across faculty, students, host organizations and internal partners, as well as the ability to navigate uncertainties and problem solve, while maintaining a high-quality stakeholder and student experience.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Strategic Program Operations
- Lead and manage program operations, ensuring a high-quality experience for students, host companies, faculty and business coaches.
- Work with the AL Academic Director to align program priorities with academic standards and processes.
- Collaborate with Academic and Program Office stakeholders to ensure that program implementation is on time, within budget, and meeting objectives through the development of work plans.
- Oversee multiple concurrent projects and workstreams, ensuring issues are identified early and appropriately addressed.
- Drive continuous innovation improvement, efficiency, and adoption of best practicesin AL operations, systems, and procedures.
- Manage and coach the AL team, ensuring clear work plans, providing direction, prioritization and support on risks and escalated matters.
Project Sourcing, Partnerships and Engagements
- Represent AL confidently with C-suite executives, senior business leaders, faculty and external partners.
- Identify and secure host partners for AL, Practicums, Capstone Team-Based Projects and Summer Program (ALSP) initiatives.
- Build a healthy and sustainable projectsourcing pipeline for companies in Malaysia and across ASEAN.
- Collaborate with BD teams across ASB, including Executive Education (EE), Career Development Office (CDO), Academic Solutions, and the CEO Office to identify, source and share host company leads, maximizing institutional relationships.
- Create and maintain a database of AL stakeholders and companies and make for data-driven decision-making.
Project Scoping & Design
- Lead project scoping with host organizations, as needed, translating business challenges into well-defined and achievable AL projects.
- Assess project feasibility, including scope, timelines, stakeholder access, data availability, confidentiality, complexity and host readiness.
- Ensure alignment between host expectations, student learning objectives and program requirements.
- Work with the Faculty Director and Faculty Advisors to shape projects appropriately.
Student Experience, Stakeholder & Relationship Management
- Manage relationships across a stakeholder ecosystem comprising Faculty Directors, Faculty Advisors, Business Coaches, Host Companies, Students, and relevant ASB departments.
- Establish clear expectations, roles and communication channels to support program success and a positive student experience.
- Build trust and credibility through responsiveness, clear communication with Students, Hosts, Faculty Advisors, and Business Coaches.
- Address student concerns, stakeholder issues and sensitive situations with maturity, discretion and sound judgement., exercising appropriate judgement on when to intervene, seek support, or escalate.
Risk Management & Problem Solving
• Anticipate and respond to circumstances that may affect program or project delivery, ensuring back-up plans are in place e.g. host changes, scope changes, delays, stakeholder conflicts and changing student or faculty requirements.
• Make timely and practical decisions when faced with ambiguity, incomplete information or competing priorities.
Other: Strategic Marketing and Positioning of AL
- Work with the Admissions and Marketing Teams to elevate visibility and brand positioning of AL at ASB throughstrategic marketing and communications, locally and globally.
- Drive thought leadership and engagement via content strategy, external platforms, partnerships, and performance tracking to amplify stakeholder reach and influence.
- Lead and provide strategic direction for key AL events and initiatives, including the Action Learning Summit and Host Alignment Sessions, working closely with the operations teams.
Qualifications & Skills:
Skills/ Knowledge
- Good understanding of international business, industry, and management issues in Asia, as well as regional trends in business, government, and society
- Good business network in SoutheastAsia/ASEAN
- Excellent analytical, writing, and editing skills
- Business-level English fluency; knowledge of Southeast Asian languages is a plus
- Relationship-Building: Strong interpersonal skills with internal and external stakeholders
- Comfortable, confident, and articulate with faculty, C-suite business leaders, and high-ranking government officials
- Organization & Execution: Proven ability to manage high-volume, cross-functional workstreams across departments and stakeholders

- Judgement & Maturity: Able to make sound decisions, manage sensitivities, ambiguity and know when to seek help or escalate.
Qualifications/ Experience
- Master's degree preferred.
- Relevant professional experience in any combination of these: business development, corporate sales, human resources/people-centered roles, program/project management, consulting, education or corporate engagement.
- Demonstrated ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume and multi-stakeholder environment.
