We are looking for a Research Associate to support the development of in vitro bioelectronic tissue models through biofabrication and biomaterials engineering. The role will focus on the design and fabrication of cell-laden hydrogel constructs, conductive biomaterials, and engineered tissue platforms, as well as their biological, structural, and functional characterization. The Research Associate will contribute to interdisciplinary research at the interface of tissue engineering, biofabrication, biomaterials, and bioelectronics, supporting the development of physiologically relevant in vitro models for fundamental research and translational applications.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and optimize biofabrication workflows for in vitro tissue models
Prepare and characterize hydrogels, conductive inks, and bioinks
Perform 3D bioprinting and post-fabrication processing of tissue constructs
Conduct mammalian cell culture, maintenance, and biological assays
Perform electrical stimulation and functional characterization experiments
Carry out microscopy imaging and quantitative analysis of biological samples
Support electrochemical and materials characterization experiments where required
Maintain accurate experimental records and assist with manuscript/report preparation
Contribute to laboratory operations, procurement, and equipment maintenance
Collaborate with interdisciplinary research teams and external collaborators
Job Requirements:
Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Bioengineering or related field
At least 3 years of relevant experience in tissue engineering, biomaterials, biofabrication, cell culture, or related experimental work
Familiarity with mammalian cell culture practices, sterile techniques, hydrogel preparation, and biofabrication workflows
Good written and oral communication skills
Proficiency in experimental laboratory techniques, microscopy imaging, data analysis, quantitative characterization, and scientific reporting
Competent in soft skills including problem-solving, adaptability, interdisciplinary collaboration, and scientific communication
