Job Summary

The Research Assistant position is based in the Department of Palliative Medicine. You will work in a team of Research Assistants to assist the Principal Investigators in their clinical research activities.


Join our team as a Research Assistant and contribute to palliative care research that aims to improve clinical care and patient outcomes. You will support research projects involving innovative approaches to care, with opportunities to work closely with a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals.


The role offers exposure to the holistic nature of palliative care, where research considers not only patients’ clinical needs, but also their physical, psychosocial and overall care experience. It will a meaningful opportunity for individuals who are keen to develop their research experience while contributing to improvements in patient-centred care.


Roles & Responsibilities

  • Assist the doctors in preparation of study protocols and other regulatory matters
  • Assist in the recruitment and screening of study participants, consent taking, collection of test samples and follow ups
  • Request for medical records from Health Information Services and ensure their timely return
  • Maintain a log of the cases completed
  • Go through the medical records to find relevant data and fill up the study forms
  • Assist with data entry and data analysis
  • Ensure compliance of study progression in accordance to schedule
  • Conduct face-to-face interviews as well as phone interviews with patients and their immediate carers, using questionnaire and scales as directed by the study protocol.
  • Coordinate research meeting in relation to the research studies undertaken
  • Undertake any other tasks assigned by the Supervisor.

Job Requirements

  • Relevant degree in Sciences.
  • Excellent trouble shooting, organization skills, and problem solving skills are also required as well as the ability to work in a team environment. Be team-oriented.
  • Highly motivated, reliable and creative. Possess the ability to work independently and effectively with research details. Willing to learn new things.
  • Have strong organizational and effective communication skills.
  • Self-motivated and pro-active attitude.
  • Have a keen interest in research. Relevant experience preferred but not compulsory.
