The Cartographer is responsible for the preparation, updating, and maintenance of all maps and data that related to plantation, forestry, and agricultural operations. This position ensures that accurate and up-to-date geospatial information is available to support plantation planning, field operations, and environmental management.

2.1 Mapping and Data Management

• Develop and maintain plantation and forestry maps, including block boundaries, access roads, watercourses, topography, and infrastructure.

• Update and manage GIS databases to reflect changes in land use, replanting, or boundary adjustments.

• Incorporate GPS and field survey data into the digital mapping system.

• Produce maps and diagrams to support operational planning and management decisions.

2.2 GIS and Technical Operations

• Operate GIS and mapping software (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS, Global Mapper, AutoCAD).

• Prepare thematic maps such as soil classification, yield distribution, and environmental zoning.

• Ensure the technical accuracy and consistency of all maps and data outputs.

• Assist in remote sensing and aerial imagery interpretation where required.

2.3 Planning and Monitoring Support

• Provide mapping inputs for plantation expansion, land demarcation, and compartment planning.

• Support replanting programs, yield estimation, and infrastructure layout verification.

• Generate maps and spatial data for reporting to management or relevant authorities.

• Contribute to environmental monitoring and compliance mapping activities.

2.4 Field Coordination

• Conduct or assist in GPS data collection and field verification surveys.

• Collaborate with surveyors, assistant managers, and field supervisors to confirm on-ground features.

• Provide guidance and technical support on GPS and map interpretation to field personnel.

2.5 Documentation and Reporting

• Maintain accurate and organized map archives in both digital and printed formats.

• Prepare periodic mapping reports and documentation for internal and external reference.

• Ensure confidentiality and proper management of all geospatial data.

• Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Geography, Geomatics, Surveying, GIS, Forestry, Agriculture, or related field.

• Minimum of 1–3 years’ experience in GIS, mapping, or cartographic work, preferably within a plantation, forestry, or agricultural environment.

• Proficient in mapping software (ArcGIS, QGIS, AutoCAD, or equivalent).

• Knowledge of GPS field survey methods and spatial data management.

• Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and commitment to data accuracy.

• Able to work independently with minimal supervision and collaborate with field teams effectively.

• May involve working outdoors in various environmental conditions.

• Required to travel between plantation or forest sites as necessary.

• Updated and accurate plantation and forest maps.

• GIS database of land-use, compartment, and infrastructure layers.

• Mapping reports and layout plans for management use.
