Job Description

Responsibilities

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Contract Manager to oversee contract administration, procurement, subcontractor management, commercial matters, and project coordination for industrial, mechanical, fabrication, maintenance, and brownfield projects.

The Contract Manager will work closely with Project Managers, Construction Teams, Procurement, Engineering, Finance, clients, suppliers, and subcontractors to ensure projects are delivered safely, within budget, on schedule, and in accordance with contractual requirements.

Key Responsibilities

1. Contract Administration

  • Manage the full contract lifecycle from tender and award through project completion.
  • Review and administer main contracts, subcontract agreements, purchase orders, and commercial terms.
  • Monitor contractual obligations, deliverables, variations, extensions of time, claims, and contractual risks.
  • Ensure project activities and commercial transactions comply with agreed contract terms.
  • Prepare and maintain contract documentation, correspondence, records, and reports.

2. Tendering & Procurement

  • Lead RFQ, tendering, quotation evaluation, negotiation, and contract award activities.
  • Develop sourcing and procurement strategies to achieve competitive pricing and project requirements.
  • Evaluate suppliers and subcontractors based on price, technical capability, quality, delivery, safety, and performance.
  • Negotiate commercial terms, rates, payment terms, and contractual conditions.
  • Monitor procurement schedules to ensure materials, services, and subcontractors are available when required.

3. Subcontractor Management

  • Manage subcontractors throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Monitor subcontractor performance, progress, manpower, quality, safety, and compliance.
  • Resolve commercial and operational issues with subcontractors.
  • Review subcontractor claims, progress claims, variation orders, and supporting documents.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and maintain approved vendor/subcontractor records.

4. Project Commercial Management

  • Monitor project costs, commitments, procurement expenditure, and budget performance.
  • Work with Project Managers to identify cost risks and opportunities for cost savings.
  • Support preparation of project budgets, cost reports, forecasts, and commercial analysis.
  • Review variations, claims, and additional work to ensure proper commercial recovery.
  • Ensure project procurement and subcontract commitments remain aligned with approved budgets.

5. Project Coordination

  • Coordinate closely with Project Managers, Construction Managers, Engineering, QA/QC, HSE, and site teams.
  • Support construction planning, resource allocation, procurement planning, and project scheduling.
  • Assist in resolving site, technical, commercial, and contractual issues.
  • Monitor project progress and support timely completion of project milestones.
  • Liaise with clients, consultants, suppliers, and contractors on contractual and commercial matters.

6. Business & Client Management

  • Maintain professional relationships with existing and potential clients.
  • Support tender preparation, project proposals, negotiations, and business development activities.
  • Identify opportunities for additional works and commercial improvement.
  • Participate in client meetings and commercial negotiations where required.

7. Compliance & Reporting

  • Ensure compliance with company policies, contractual requirements, HSE standards, quality requirements, and applicable regulations.
  • Prepare regular contract, procurement, cost, and project performance reports for management.
  • Maintain proper documentation for audit and project close-out purposes.
  • Support continuous improvement of procurement and contract management processes.

Requirements

  • Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Contract Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in contract management, procurement, construction, engineering, or project commercial management.
  • Strong experience in industrial, oil & gas, mechanical, piping, fabrication, maintenance, shutdown, or brownfield projects .
  • Proven experience in subcontractor management, tendering, procurement, contract administration, and cost control.
  • Strong negotiation, commercial, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Good understanding of project execution and construction activities.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Experience with SAP, Coupa, EPICOR, Power BI , or similar systems will be an advantage.
  • Able to work independently and coordinate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
