Overview
AST is seeking an experienced Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) Engineer to design, implement,
and optimize MES solutions within a high-volume electronics manufacturing environment. This role will
primarily support AST’s manufacturing operations in Singapore and collaborate closely with the Toppan
DI team to ensure stable, reliable MES operations, continuous system enhancements, and long-term
platform improvements.
The position will also be responsible for providing centralized MES support from Singapore to
manufacturing sites worldwide, delivering remote technical support and operational assistance to global
factories where local MES resources are not available.
Role Responsibilities
Design, develop, and implement Manufacturing Execution System (MES) solutions tailored to
optimize production processes, streamline workflows, and enhance overall manufacturing
productivity
Continuously evaluate and improve MES functionalities to support evolving manufacturing
requirements, ensuring high system availability and minimal operational disruption
Develop, manage, and maintain comprehensive reports and dashboards to track production
performance and key manufacturing KPIs
Lead MES initiatives and projects end-to-end, including scope definition, scheduling, execution, and
regular stakeholder communication
Monitor MES performance proactively, identify potential risks or system issues, and implement
preventive actions to reduce unplanned downtime
Perform regular MES system maintenance, troubleshoot software and hardware issues, and ensure
optimal system performance and reliability
Collaborate closely with manufacturing, engineering, and IT teams to identify opportunities for MES enhancements aligned with long-term operational and business objectives
Provide remote MES support from Singapore for global manufacturing sites in the absence of local factory presence
Lead MES system deployment, configuration, customization, and version upgrades
Provide technical leadership in system troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and performance optimization
Integrate MES with ERP, SCADA, automation equipment, and enterprise IT systems to enable seamless data flow and manufacturing visibility
Drive manufacturing process improvements, lean initiatives, and adoption of Industry 4.0 and smart manufacturing solutions
Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs), technical documentation, and deliver end-user training
Ensure MES data integrity, cybersecurity standards, and compliance with applicable regulatory and corporate requirements
Professional Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Manufacturing, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related discipline
Strong proficiency in Python, with additional knowledge of Java or C# considered an advantage
Experience in database management and maintenance, including Oracle, DB2, MSSQL, and MySQL
Proven track record of MES system development, integration, deployment, and optimization in a manufacturing environment
In-depth knowledge of MES modules, Oracle databases, and system integration architectures
Familiarity with manufacturing processes, enterprise system integration, and Industry 4.0 / smart manufacturing concepts
Highly motivated self-starter with strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and analytical skills
Excellent communication, coordination, and stakeholder management abilities, with the capability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
