Responsibilities

MECHATRONICS ENGINEER

Seiko Precision is seeking a Mechatronics Engineer with the technical expertise to engineer intelligent automation systems, improve production equipment, and drive technological innovation across our manufacturing operations. We need a professional who can combine mechanical design, control systems, automation technologies, and practical engineering principles to develop solutions that strengthen our competitive advantage.

As a skill-based organization, we leverage the unique strengths and expertise of every team member. Our focus is on adaptability and continuous skill development, valuing skills over fixed job titles, which empowers them to chart their own career paths and take ownership of their professional development. We foster a culture of cross-functional collaboration that fuels agility, allowing our members to respond swiftly to evolving challenges and drive transformative innovation.

You will thrive here if you're driven to broaden your skills through hands-on learning and cross-functional projects, motivated by hunger for growth, and eager to tackle industry challenges. We seek adaptable and passionate quick learners who bring creative innovations, fresh perspectives, and high energy to our team.

Here, we empower you to break traditional boundaries, work across multiple disciplines to achieve the best outcomes, and bring forward unique perspectives. The role is challenging, but for those who rise to it, the rewards include competitive salary and rapid career progression. Join us to make a real impact in our forward-thinking environment that values curiosity, collaboration, and bold contributions.

A day in the life at Seiko…

  • Develop and Optimize Automation Logic: Design, develop, test, and troubleshoot industrial automation programs using ladder logic and other control methodologies. You will continuously refine machine functionality, operational performance, and process controls to maximize efficiency and reliability.
  • Design Industrial Control Systems: You will lead the development of machine control architectures by selecting and integrating sensors, actuators, motion control devices, servo systems, robotics, industrial communication networks, and SCADA systems. You will create reliable, scalable, and safe control solutions that support production excellence.
  • Create CAD Modelling and CAM Rapid Prototyping: You will develop detailed mechanical designs, assemblies, engineering drawings, and manufacturing specifications using SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and CAM technologies.
  • Coach QEHS: You will assist various departments in navigating complex procedures by providing dynamic training and guidance on best practices.
  • Lead Equipment Testing, Validation and Commissioning: You will own the end-to-end testing, validation, troubleshooting, and commissioning of machines, automation systems, and production equipment. You will verify system performance, identify improvement opportunities, and ensure solutions are production-ready before deployment.
  • Drive Continuous Improvement: You will analyze machine performance, process capability, and operational data to identify opportunities for improvement. You will implement engineering solutions that increase productivity, improve equipment availability, enhance product quality, and reduce operational waste.

You will excel in Seiko if you are...

  • An automation innovator – You are naturally curious about automation technologies and enjoy transforming ideas into practical engineering solutions. You continuously explore new technologies, challenge conventional thinking, and seek opportunities to improve how work is performed.
  • A system thinker – You understand how mechanical, electrical, electronic, and software systems interact. You can see the bigger picture, identify interdependencies, and design solutions that optimise the performance of the entire system rather than individual components.
  • A hands-on builder – You can easily translate complex ISO standards and legal requirements into actionable, every day practices. You are comfortable guiding, assisting, and training employees across all levels of the organization.
  • Energetic and enthusiastic – You are a team player who brings enthusiasm and high-level energy to every aspect of our mission. Your passion fuels innovation, and your commitment inspires those around you to reach new heights, embodying a proactive approach to lifelong learning and growth.

Prerequisites:

  • A diploma or bachelor’s degree in Mechatronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Automation or Robotics Engineering or a related STEM field.
  • Proficiency in CAD and CAM software, preferably SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and Mastercam.
  • Knowledge of industrial automation, ladder logic programming, motion control systems, and SCADA development.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical thinking, and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Possess a valid driving license and own transport.
  • Must be fluent in Bahasa Malaysia and English to effectively coordinate across various disciplines and teams.
  • Fresh graduates are encouraged to apply. Candidates with up to 3 years of relevant experience are also welcome.
