Job Description
Trader Max's is looking for a hands-on Retail Supervisor to run the daily operations of our retail outlets in Meru and Kapar. You'll lead the shop floor team, keep stock and cash in order, and make sure customers get served properly. This is a floor role, not a desk role: you'll be on your feet, working alongside the cashiers and shop assistants, and stepping in wherever needed.
Job Responsibilities
Daily Outlet Operations
- Supervise the daily running of the outlet, including opening and closing procedures, cleanliness, lighting, air-conditioning, and in-store music.
- Make sure the shop floor is well stocked, with products fronted, priced correctly, and displayed neatly.
- Handle customer enquiries and complaints, and escalate what you can't resolve to the Business Operation Manager.
- Keep the outlet compliant with company policies, procedures, and standards.
Cash & Sales
- Check the cash drawer opening balance at the start of each shift and the closing balance at the end.
- Supervise cashiers, verify cash and e-wallet collections, and prepare the daily sales report.
- Prepare cash for banking in and make sure bank-in slips are submitted to the office.
- Investigate cash discrepancies and report them immediately.
- Push promotions, new products, and slow-moving stock to hit the outlet's monthly sales target.
Stock & Inventory
- Monitor stock levels and raise replenishment orders from the warehouse before items run out.
- Receive deliveries, check quantities against the delivery order, and report shortages or damaged goods.
- Run regular stock counts and investigate variances between system and physical stock.
- Watch expiry dates and manage near-expiry stock to keep write-offs low.
- Keep the storeroom tidy and stock rotated on a first-in, first-out basis.
Team Supervision
- Prepare the duty roster and shift schedule so the outlet is properly manned, including weekends and public holidays.
- Supervise and train cashiers and shop assistants on POS, customer service, and opening and closing duties.
- Monitor attendance, punctuality, and grooming, and report issues to the Business Operation Manager or HR.
- Cover cashier or shop floor duties when the team is short-handed.
- Undertake ad hoc tasks assigned by the Outlet Manager or Directors.
Job Requirements
- SPM or above.
- At least 1–2 years of retail experience, ideally in a supermarket, mini market, convenience store, or pharmacy. Experience as a senior cashier or team leader is an advantage.
- Honest, trustworthy, and comfortable being responsible for daily cash.
- Able to lead a small team and work hands-on alongside them.
- Comfortable with POS systems and basic Excel or WhatsApp reporting.
- Able to communicate in Bahasa Malaysia and English. Mandarin is an advantage.
- Willing to work on shift rotation, 6 days a week, including weekends and public holidays.
- Own transport is preferred, as the outlets are in Meru and Kapar.
- Physically fit and able to stand for long hours and handle stock.
What We Offer
