Primary Science Curriculum Writer

Employment Type: Full-Time
Work Hours: 8.5hrs daily
Salary: Up to $4,500 per month, depending on experience

About the Role

We are looking for a Primary Science Curriculum Writer to join our academic team. This is a hands-on role that combines curriculum development with classroom teaching.

You will develop and improve Primary Science learning materials while teaching selected classes and providing relief coverage when required during your available slots.

Key Responsibilities

Curriculum Development

• Develop and review Primary Science curriculum materials for Primary 3 to Primary 6.
• Create worksheets, lesson notes, revision materials, assessments and other learning resources.
• Develop questions of different difficulty levels, including questions that encourage application and higher-order thinking.
• Ensure curriculum content is accurate, age-appropriate and aligned with the Singapore Primary Science syllabus.
• Review and improve existing materials based on teacher and student feedback.
• Develop and review answer keys, explanations and marking schemes.

Teaching & Academic Support

• Conduct assigned permanent Primary Science classes.
• Deliver engaging and structured lessons based on the centre's curriculum and teaching standards.
• Monitor student understanding and progress and provide appropriate support.
• Provide relief teaching when required during available or non-teaching slots.
• Work closely with teachers and Academic Heads to identify student learning gaps and improve curriculum materials.
• Support other academic projects and initiatives when required.

Requirements

• Diploma or Degree in Science, Education or a related field.
• Strong understanding of the Singapore Primary Science syllabus and examination requirements.
• Prior experience teaching Primary Science at primary school or tuition centre level.
• Experience in curriculum development, educational content writing or assessment development will be an advantage.
• Strong written and spoken English with good attention to detail.
• Able to explain Science concepts clearly and effectively to primary school students.
• Strong question-setting and curriculum development skills.
• Comfortable balancing curriculum development work with regular classroom teaching.
• Organised, responsible and able to work independently.
