Job Title: Barista (Affogato & Dessert Specialist)

Job Level: Entry-level

Department: F&B Operations

Weekday Rate: $13/hour

Weekend Rate: $15/hour

Schedule: Minimum 3 days/week, 20 hours/week minimum, up to 35 hours/week

Overall Job Objectives:

The Barista is responsible for preparing high-quality coffee, affogato desserts, and gelato-based beverages while delivering warm, efficient, and engaging customer service. This role combines coffee craftsmanship, dessert presentation, and front-of-house hospitality.

Core Responsibilities:

• Prepare espresso-based drinks according to recipe standards
• Prepare affogato desserts with consistency and precision
• Scoop and portion gelato accurately according to SOP
• Present dessert drinks and toppings neatly and attractively
• Ensure correct temperature, taste, and presentation
• Perform daily calibration, cleaning, and basic maintenance
• Monitor bean freshness, grind size, and shot quality
• Follow food safety and hygiene standards
• Greet customers warmly and explain the menu clearly
• Recommend flavours, pairings, and upsell add-ons
• Handle POS transactions accurately
• Manage takeaway and dine-in orders during peak hours
• Maintain cleanliness of bar counter and service area
• Assist with opening and closing duties
• Monitor stock levels and support efforts to minimize wastage.

Job Specifications:

• Barista or café experienced preferred (training provided)
• Basic espresso and milk texturing knowledge
• Friendly, outgoing, and committed to outstanding customer service.
• Able to work in a fast-paced environment
• Food hygiene certification is an advantage
• Please note: Work Visa will not be provided by the company.

Key Deliverables:

• Ensure prompt, friendly, and consistent service at all times.
• Ensure consistent quality and presentation of all beverages.
• Ensure all equipment is cleaned and maintained according to health and safety guidelines.
• Meet sales targets through excellent customer service and appropriate product recommendations.
• Maintain smooth operations by adhering to procedures and handling POS/ordering systems effectively.
• Represent the brand with professional grooming and positive interaction.
