Job Description

Responsibilities

About the Role

Our client is a healthcare group operating hospital and clinic services, and digital platform sits at the centre of how patients reach us—primarily through our appointment booking system. That platform works, but it carries the constraints of how it was first built.

We are hiring a Senior Full Stack Engineer to help us re-architect and strengthen it: removing existing limitations, improving reliability and performance, and building the next generation of booking, scheduling, and patient-facing features on Microsoft Azure.

This is a hands-on senior role. You will own features end to end—from database design through API to the mobile and web experience—and you will set the engineering standard for the people around you.

What You'll Do:

  • Design, build, and maintain backend services and APIs in C# / .NET for our appointment booking and patient-facing platform.
  • Diagnose and resolve current system limitations—scalability bottlenecks, data model constraints, scheduling logic gaps, and integration pain points—and propose realistic remediation plans.
  • Model and optimise data in Azure SQL Database: schema design, indexing, query tuning, and migration planning.
  • Build and manage APIs on Azure API Management, and deploy services across Azure App Service, Azure Functions, and related Azure components.
  • Contribute to the front end—React Native for mobile and React.js for web—working closely with design and product.
  • Integrate with hospital systems and third parties: HIS/HMS modules, doctor rostering and slot availability, payment gateways, notification channels (SMS, email, WhatsApp), and identity providers.
  • Write clear technical design documents and API documentation, so decisions and behaviour are traceable long after the ticket closes.
  • Enforce engineering discipline through code review, automated testing, and CI/CD; mentor mid-level engineers.
  • Work with clinical operations, customer support, and product stakeholders to translate real operational problems into sound technical solutions.

What We're Looking For (Required):

  • 6–10 years of professional software engineering experience, with a strong track record of delivering and maintaining production systems.
  • Deep expertise in C# and .NET—ASP.NET Core, Web API, Entity Framework Core, async/concurrency, dependency injection.
  • Strong command of object-oriented design and enterprise software fundamentals: SOLID, clean/layered architecture, design patterns, separation of concerns—and the judgement to know when not to over-engineer.
  • Solid relational database skills, ideally on Azure SQL Database / SQL Server: normalised schema design, T-SQL, stored procedures, transactions and isolation levels, performance profiling.
  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure in production—API Management, App Service, Functions, Key Vault, Blob Storage, Service Bus or equivalent messaging.
  • Comfortable working across the stack, including JavaScript/TypeScript and at least one modern front-end framework.
  • A genuine habit of writing documentation—technical design docs, ADRs, API specs (OpenAPI/Swagger), runbooks.
  • Strong written and spoken English; able to communicate technical trade-offs to non-technical stakeholders.

Strongly Preferred:

  • Prior experience with appointment booking, scheduling, reservation, or event booking systems—slot availability, concurrency and double-booking prevention, cancellations, rescheduling, capacity rules, time zones.
  • Experience in healthcare / hospital management systems (HIS/HMS), TPA, insurance, or clinic operations software.
  • React Native production experience—app store release process, native module integration, deep linking, push notifications, WebView and in-app browser behaviour.
  • Working knowledge of healthcare interoperability and compliance: HL7, FHIR, PDPA/HIPAA-equivalent data protection practices, audit logging, PHI handling.
  • Fluency with AI-assisted development tools—Claude / Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot—used with good judgement: accelerating delivery while still reviewing, testing, and owning the output.
  • Experience with containers and delivery pipelines: Docker, AKS, Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions, ArgoCD.
  • Observability and monitoring practice: Application Insights, Datadog, structured logging, alerting.
