Job Description:
Technical & Tender Support
- Work with Business Development (BD) to evaluate clients’ technical requirements and provide feedback on technical issues, including compliance with local codes and standards.
- Support BD on the engineering aspects of new projects, modernisation and Lift Replacement Projects (LRP).
- Review tender documents and drawings and provide technical input for the technical specifications portion of tender documents.
- Support BD in assessing quality parameters under PQM for lift tenders, including analysis and review of tender results relating to quality requirements.
- Review design proposals from lift suppliers, including design data, parameters and engineering calculations, to ensure compliance with local codes and common practices.
Design Review & Project Technical Support
- Review consultants’ designs to ensure lift installation designs comply with applicable codes and do not adversely affect the operation and maintenance of EM lifts.
- Support the Project Team on technical matters during project planning, drawing and installation stages.
- Attend meetings with consultants and main contractors where required.
- Review shop drawings, including engineering calculations, to ensure compliance with local codes, common practices and client requirements.
- Review and approve parts listings to ensure the quality and suitability of materials and components.
- Ensure detailed drawings of lift parts are obtained from lift OEMs for compilation into the parts database and spare parts documentation.
- Review and provide technical input on proposed installation methodologies and approaches.
- Conduct detailed checks on lift mock-ups and recommend improvements where necessary.
- Review and approve engineering design changes.
Testing, Commissioning & Handover
- Oversee and review testing and commissioning (T&C) activities to ensure completeness before lifts are put into operation.
- Conduct handover inspections upon project completion together with Lift Project and Lift Maintenance representatives.
- Provide technical input for the preparation and resolution of defects lists.
- Carry out audit checks during the installation process where necessary.
Quality Assurance & Reliability
- Monitor the reliability of lift parts and components and identify common faults through 20/80 fault analysis.
- Recommend improvements to the procurement of parts based on reliability and performance data.
- Conduct data analytics on lift fault data, investigate root causes and support the Lift Maintenance team in preventing recurrence of similar faults.
- Investigate root causes of complaints relating to existing lifts, such as noisy operation and rusty ropes, and assist in formulating appropriate solutions.
- Conduct quality control acceptance checks on parts delivered and set up jigs for parts testing where required.
- Assess the quality of parts from various suppliers and conduct laboratory testing where necessary.
- Recommend appropriate action, including supplier removal, where parts do not meet required quality standards.
- Conduct independent audit checks on suppliers’ manufacturing quality where necessary.
- Carry out periodic independent audit spot checks on lift maintenance quality where necessary.
Regulatory & Quality Improvement
- Keep the Lift Team updated on new regulations, requirements and industry practices, including compliance timelines.
- Liaise with relevant authorities where necessary on regulatory and technical matters.
- Conduct sharing sessions with the Lift Team on quality-related matters, including improvements to processes, materials and work practices.
Job Requirements:
Qualifications
- Diploma in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.
- Electrical Engineering qualification will be preferred.
- Valid LEW licence will be advantageous.
Experience
- Minimum 3 years of relevant experience.
- Experience in lift and escalator systems will be preferred.
Specific Skills/Knowledge
- Strong knowledge of lift electrical and mechanical systems.
- Knowledge of local codes, regulations and industry practices relating to lift systems.
- Experience in technical design review, quality assurance, testing and commissioning will be advantageous.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
