Responsibilities

Position Summary

The Assistant Manager, Loss Prevention supports the overall safety, security and loss prevention operations of the hotel. The role assists the Loss Prevention Manager in protecting guests, associates, hotel assets and property while ensuring a safe and secure environment.

The position oversees daily Loss Prevention operations, responds to incidents and emergencies, conducts investigations, ensures compliance with hotel and company policies, and supports the development and supervision of the Loss Prevention team.

Key ResponsibilitiesLoss Prevention & Security Operations

  • Assist in managing the daily operations of the Loss Prevention department.
  • Ensure appropriate security coverage throughout the hotel, including guest areas, back-of-house areas, loading bays, entrances and other critical locations.
  • Conduct regular patrols and inspections to identify safety, security and operational risks.
  • Monitor CCTV, access control, key control and other security systems.
  • Ensure all incidents, accidents and unusual occurrences are properly documented, investigated and followed up.
  • Review Loss Prevention logs and reports and escalate significant matters to hotel leadership.
  • Support crowd control, VIP movements and security arrangements for major events when required.

Incident & Emergency Management

  • Respond promptly to guest and associate incidents, medical emergencies, fire alarms, disturbances and other emergency situations.
  • Support the hotel’s emergency response procedures and coordinate with relevant departments.
  • Liaise with police, fire and other government or emergency authorities when required.
  • Assist with investigations involving theft, loss, damage, misconduct or other security-related matters.
  • Preserve evidence, review CCTV footage and prepare clear investigation reports.
  • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism when handling sensitive incidents.

Safety & Compliance

  • Conduct regular safety inspections and identify potential hazards.
  • Support compliance with fire life safety, occupational safety and hotel security requirements.
  • Ensure emergency exits, fire escape routes and other critical areas remain unobstructed and properly maintained.
  • Participate in emergency drills, evacuation exercises and crisis-management activities.
  • Follow up with relevant departments on identified safety or security deficiencies.
  • Support internal and external audits relating to Loss Prevention, safety and security.

Team Leadership

  • Supervise Loss Prevention Officers during assigned shifts.
  • Conduct daily briefings and ensure the team is updated on hotel activities, VIPs, events and potential security concerns.
  • Coach and develop associates to maintain professional standards and operational readiness.
  • Assist with duty rosters, attendance, training and performance management.
  • Ensure Loss Prevention associates maintain appropriate grooming, discipline and professional conduct.
  • Promote a culture of safety awareness across hotel departments.

Guest & Associate Relations

  • Handle security-related guest situations calmly, professionally and discreetly.
  • Work closely with Front Office, Housekeeping, Engineering, Food & Beverage, Human Resources and other departments.
  • Support associates in situations involving workplace safety, lost property, accidents or security concerns.
  • Maintain a visible but discreet security presence appropriate for a luxury hotel environment.
  • Ensure interactions with guests reflect the hotel’s service standards while maintaining necessary security protocols.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Diploma or Degree in Security Management, Hospitality Management, Occupational Safety, Law Enforcement or a related discipline is preferred.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of relevant security or Loss Prevention experience, preferably within an upscale or luxury hotel.
  • Previous supervisory experience is preferred.
  • Good understanding of hotel security operations, emergency procedures, CCTV systems and incident investigation.
  • Knowledge of fire life safety and workplace safety requirements.
  • Strong report-writing, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Able to remain calm and make sound decisions during emergencies or sensitive situations.
  • Able to work shifts, weekends and public holidays according to operational requirements.
  • Proficient in English and Bahasa Malaysia; additional languages are an advantage.
