A leading and expanding grocery retail group is looking for an experienced Group FC to oversee the Group’s financial management, reporting, controls, and accounting operations. The ideal candidate must have a strong retail background, preferably within grocery, supermarket, FMCG retail, or a multi-outlet environment.
About the Role
Lead the Group’s overall finance and accounting functions, including financial reporting, management accounts, budgeting, and forecasting.
Responsibilities
- Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting for the Group and its subsidiaries.
- Ensure timely and accurate preparation of management reports, financial analysis, and business performance reviews.
- Drive budgeting, forecasting, cash-flow planning, and financial planning processes across the Group.
- Monitor the financial performance of retail outlets and business units, providing insights and recommendations to management.
- Strengthen financial controls, accounting policies, processes, and compliance across the Group.
- Manage audit, tax, statutory reporting, and regulatory requirements in collaboration with external advisers and auditors.
- Oversee working capital, inventory, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and cash management.
- Lead and develop the finance team, ensuring strong execution, accountability, and continuous process improvement.
- Partner with senior management on business expansion, investment decisions, cost optimisation, and other strategic initiatives.
Qualifications
- Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
- Professional qualification such as ACCA, CPA, MIA, CIMA or equivalent is highly preferred.
- At least 8 years of relevant finance and accounting experience, with proven experience in a senior finance leadership role.
Required Skills
- Retail background is a MUST, preferably in grocery, supermarket, FMCG retail, or a multi-outlet environment.
- Strong understanding of retail accounting, inventory, margins, stock management, outlet profitability, and working capital.
- Experience managing Group-level financial reporting and consolidation is highly advantageous.
- Strong leadership, analytical, communication, and stakeholder-management skills.
- Commercially minded with the ability to translate financial data into actionable business insights.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, growth and expansion-driven environment.
- Strong knowledge of Malaysian accounting standards, taxation, statutory requirements, and internal controls.
