Responsibilities

Position : Electrical Engineer

Industry : Oil & Gas

Location : Johor

Employment : Contract

Scope of Works:

  • Provide technical input and execute the Electrical Engineering Strategy, Business Plan, and Policy, delivering technical and project engineering services and specialized engineering solutions.
  • Provide technical engineering support for electrical systems, including design, testing, maintenance, troubleshooting, and improvement activities.
  • Support the operation and maintenance of electrical equipment, including protection relays, transformers, switchgear, motors, and UPS systems.
  • Review and interpret electrical drawings, Single Line Diagrams (SLDs), schematics, and technical documentation.
  • Support electrical engineering activities throughout project and operational phases, including commissioning, testing, and start-up.
  • Monitor electrical system performance and support root cause analysis, troubleshooting, and reliability improvement initiatives.
  • Provide technical expertise and contribute to technical capability development and continuous improvement across the organization.
  • Ensure electrical engineering and maintenance activities comply with applicable safety requirements, regulatory standards, codes, and industry best practices.
  • Maintain accurate engineering and maintenance documentation and provide technical recommendations to relevant stakeholders.
  • Support initiatives to enhance asset reliability, integrity, availability, and operational efficiency.


Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Minimum five (5) years of experience.
  • Conversant with electrical system design, testing, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
  • Hands-on knowledge of electrical equipment such as protection relays, transformers, switchgear, motors, and UPS systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, SLDs, schematics, and technical documents.
  • Proficient in relevant engineering tools such as AutoCAD, ETAP, and/or other electrical simulation and analysis software.
  • Good understanding of power distribution systems, maintenance work processes, and reliability practices.
  • Strong knowledge of root cause analysis and electrical troubleshooting.
  • Experience in petrochemical / Oil & Gas facilities is highly preferred.
  • Experience in plant maintenance and turnaround activities will be an added advantage.
  • Familiarity with reliability engineering and asset integrity/inspection.
  • Exposure to EPC, brownfield projects, commissioning, and start-up activities is an advantage.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, coordination, and communication skills.
