Job Description

Responsibilities

Location: Woodlands, Singapore

Reporting to: Plant Manager

About the Role

Chipstone Electronics is building and ramping up a module-packaging operation in Singapore. Our manufacturing environment is closer to semiconductor back-end, secure-module and electronics assembly than front-end wafer fabrication.

You will establish and manage quality controls covering incoming materials, production processes and finished products. As an early member of the plant team, you will not only investigate defects - you will help build the inspection standards, quality procedures, reporting and certification framework needed to move the plant from trial production into stable volume production.

Key Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain incoming, in-process and outgoing quality controls covering raw materials, work-in-progress and finished modules.
  • Develop inspection criteria, sampling plans, control plans, checklists and acceptance standards.
  • Monitor product quality, process yield, defect rates, rework and scrap, and identify negative trends before they affect delivery.
  • Investigate defects and recurring quality issues using structured methods such as 8D, CAPA, 5 Why, fishbone analysis and SPC.
  • Work with Production, Process Engineering and Equipment Maintenance to identify root causes and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Manage non-conforming materials and products, including segregation, disposition, rework verification and closure.
  • Coordinate material-quality issues and supplier corrective actions with Procurement and suppliers.
  • Manage customer complaints, lead investigations and prepare clear and timely corrective-action responses.
  • Ensure product and process traceability through proper lot, batch, material and inspection records.
  • Support production trials, process qualification and product validation before release to volume production.
  • Maintain quality documentation, SOPs, records and audit evidence.
  • Support the establishment and maintenance of the quality-management system and relevant certifications, including CQM requirements where applicable.
  • Prepare for and support customer, certification and internal audits.
  • Train operators and supervisors on inspection requirements, defect standards, ESD controls and quality procedures.
  • Promote a quality culture where issues are reported early, contained quickly and resolved based on evidence.

Requirements

  • Diploma or Degree in Quality Engineering, Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing or a related discipline.
  • At least 3 years of quality experience in one or more of the following environments:

Smart-card, SIM or secure-module manufacturing

Semiconductor back-end assembly and testing

OSAT or IC packaging

Electronics module assembly

Comparable high-volume precision manufacturing

  • Hands-on experience with incoming, in-process and outgoing quality control.
  • Familiar with structured problem-solving tools such as 8D, CAPA, SPC, FMEA, control plans and root-cause analysis.
  • Experience handling customer complaints and preparing corrective-action reports.
  • Familiar with quality-management systems, controlled documentation and audit preparation.
  • Good understanding of cleanroom practices, ESD control, contamination prevention and product traceability.
  • Able to analyse production data and communicate quality issues clearly to technical and operational teams.
  • Practical and willing to work directly with the production floor in a growing plant.

Direct experience in module packaging, smart-card modules, semiconductor back-end assembly or finished-product quality has added advantage.
