About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Senior Software Engineer specializing in Android Platform Engineering to help shape and strengthen our client’s Android ecosystem.

In this role, you will set the technical direction for the Android platform, develop reusable capabilities, improve engineering standards, and enable multiple product teams to build secure, reliable, and maintainable mobile applications. You will also play an influential role in improving the Android developer experience and supporting the wider engineering community through coaching and knowledge sharing.

Key Responsibilities

• Define and evolve the technical direction for the Android platform, including shared libraries, frameworks, architectural patterns, and developer-facing capabilities.
• Establish platform standards and reference implementations that enable Android teams to build consistent, secure, and maintainable applications.
• Lead the design, delivery, and adoption of reusable Android components and platform capabilities across multiple products and applications.
• Improve the Android developer experience through local development tools, Android Studio configuration, documentation, practical examples, and self-service guidance.
• Partner with Android product teams to identify recurring technical challenges and transform them into scalable platform solutions.
• Collaborate with platform, reliability, and release engineering teams to ensure Android requirements are represented across CI/CD, observability, optimization, and quality-assurance capabilities.
• Provide Android subject-matter expertise while maintaining clear ownership and effective collaboration across engineering functions.
• Improve application architecture, performance, reliability, security, and maintainability in partnership with product and domain engineering teams.
• Lead technical discovery, architecture and design reviews, migration planning, and adoption strategies for platform-level changes.
• Influence technical decisions across multiple teams through clear written guidance, engineering communities, hands-on coaching, and effective stakeholder engagement.
• Coach and mentor engineers, support onboarding, and strengthen Android engineering capability across the organization.
• Promote an inclusive and collaborative environment where team members can share different perspectives, provide constructive feedback, and continuously learn.

Qualifications and Experience

• Significant professional experience in native Android application development or Android platform engineering.
• Strong hands-on experience with Kotlin.
• Experience designing and evolving Android platform architecture, shared libraries, frameworks, SDKs, or developer tooling.
• Strong understanding of Android application architecture, modularization, dependency management, and the Android SDK and development toolchain.
• Experience defining technical standards and supporting their adoption across multiple mobile teams, products, or applications.
• Demonstrated experience improving the developer experience through reusable abstractions, documentation, reference examples, migration guidance, and self-service tooling.
• Experience improving application security, performance, reliability, and maintainability through sound Android engineering practices.
• Ability to influence technical direction and communicate complex engineering concepts clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Strong collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across product, platform, and engineering teams.
• Demonstrated commitment to mentoring, knowledge sharing, continuous improvement, and inclusive collaboration.
