Responsibilities
J ob Title: Interior Designer / Project Designer (Design & Build Contractor)
We are a well-established Design & Build contractor specializing in high-end commercial (offices, retail, F&B) and residential (private clubs, luxury flats) interior fit-out projects. To cope with our expanding project pipeline, we are looking for a hands-on, site-savvy designer to join our team.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and revise detailed construction drawings (CD), joinery shop drawings, and CSD coordination layouts – ensuring full constructability.
Spend approximately 50% of working hours on-site – attending site meetings, verifying actual site conditions, and issuing immediate drawing amendments (VO) to resolve clashes with structural, MEP, and wet trade works.
Conduct design cost estimation – sourcing materials, calculating joinery fabrication costs, and preparing bill of quantities (BQ) to align design proposals with client budgets and company profitability.
Coordinate closely with project managers, site supervisors, and sub-contractors to ensure seamless design-to-installation execution.
Requirements:
Minimum 4 years of solid interior design experience , with proven track record working for contractors or fit-out construction firms – fresh graduates or pure design-office backgrounds will not be considered.
Strong proficiency in AutoCAD, SketchUp , and document management systems; 3D rendering skills (e.g., 3ds Max, Enscape) are a plus.
Practical knowledge of local material costs, labour rates, and tender estimating – able to handle costings independently.
Excellent problem-solving and communication skills – comfortable dealing with clients, sub-contractors, and frontline workers on site.
Able to work under tight schedules with a proactive, can-do attitude.
