Company: Meraque Group
Engagement: Freelance / Project-Based
Location: Malaysia
Duration: Initial engagement of approximately 2 weeks, with potential for further involvement
About the Project
Meraque Group is currently developing a FPV-based delivery drone concept and is looking for an experienced UAV / FPV Drone R&D Engineer to support the development of a suitable payload delivery mechanism. We currently have two FPV drones available for R&D and prototyping.
Key Responsibilities
- Review the existing FPV drone configuration and assess its suitability for the delivery application.
- Design and recommend a practical payload delivery/drop mechanism for the existing drone.
- Develop and prototype the mechanical mechanism.
- Consider payload weight, centre of gravity, aerodynamics, flight stability and mechanism reliability.
- Integrate the mechanism with the drone's existing electronics and control system where required.
- Conduct hands-on testing, troubleshooting and optimisation.
- Develop a mechanism that can release a payload safely and reliably while the drone is in flight.
- Recommend suitable components, materials, actuators and control methods.
- Work closely with the Meraque engineering team to achieve a functional proof-of-concept within the required timeline.
Initial Project Objectives
The initial development target is to demonstrate:
- Stable FPV drone flight using stabilised mode.
- Capability to operate in Acro Mode, if required.
- Successful integration of a payload drop mechanism.
- Reliable release of a payload from a predetermined altitude while airborne.
- A practical and repeatable mechanism suitable for further development.
Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone with hands-on experience in:
- FPV drones / UAVs
- Drone mechanical design and prototyping
- Payload delivery or release mechanisms
- UAV integration and flight testing
- Servo / actuator-based mechanisms
- CAD and rapid prototyping
- Drone electronics and flight controllers
- UAV troubleshooting and system integration
Experience with FPV builds, ArduPilot, Betaflight, PX4, Pixhawk, servo-controlled mechanisms or UAV payload systems will be an advantage.
What We Value
The ideal freelancer should be:
- Hands-on and practical
- Strong in mechanical and UAV problem-solving
- Comfortable modifying and prototyping existing hardware
- Able to work within a short development timeline
- Comfortable conducting actual drone testing
- Able to work independently and recommend practical solutions
Engagement
This is an immediate, project-based freelance opportunity. The initial engagement is expected to be approximately 2 weeks, with potential for further collaboration depending on project requirements.
