Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Application Support Engineer to provide Level 2 production support for critical trading and financial markets applications.

The role involves supporting Murex and related trading, risk management and market data systems, ensuring application stability, resolving production issues and improving operational efficiency.

You will work closely with business users, application developers, infrastructure teams and regional technology stakeholders to maintain reliable trading operations.

Key Responsibilities

Production & Application Support

• Provide L2 support for trading, risk management and financial markets applications.
• Monitor application performance, batch processing, system interfaces and production services.
• Investigate and resolve application failures, data discrepancies and production incidents.
• Troubleshoot system integration issues and identify the impact on upstream and downstream applications.
• Coordinate with technical teams and external vendors to restore services and minimize operational disruption.
• Support application performance, capacity monitoring and business continuity activities.

Incident & Problem Management

• Perform incident investigations and root cause analysis.
• Identify recurring technical issues and recommend long-term solutions.
• Manage incidents, problems and production changes following ITIL practices.
• Support application fixes, testing, enhancements and production deployments.
• Maintain incident records and provide timely updates to relevant stakeholders.

Process Improvement & Automation

• Identify opportunities to improve system reliability and support efficiency.
• Use SQL to investigate data issues, validate information and support reconciliation activities.
• Support automation initiatives using scripting, AI or productivity tools.
• Recommend improvements to existing workflows and operational processes.

Documentation & Stakeholder Support

• Maintain application support procedures, technical documentation and troubleshooting guides.
• Document system dependencies, integration details and known issues.
• Collaborate with trading users, risk teams, developers and infrastructure engineers.
• Support operational readiness for system changes and new application releases.

Job Requirements

Essential Requirements

• Experience in application or production support within banking, financial services or financial markets.
• Good understanding of trading operations and financial markets applications.
• Strong hands-on SQL skills for data investigation, troubleshooting and validation.
• Experience investigating production incidents and performing root cause analysis.
• Understanding of databases, system interfaces, data flows and application integrations.
• Familiarity with ITIL-based incident, problem and change management.
• Exposure to automation, AI productivity tools or data analytics.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting and communication skills.
• Ability to manage production issues under time pressure and work with regional stakeholders.

Preferred Skills

• Experience supporting Murex (MX.3) or similar trading platforms.
• Familiarity with Bloomberg, Refinitiv/Reuters or other market data applications.
• Knowledge of Python, PowerShell or scripting technologies.
• Experience with application monitoring and performance management tools.
• Understanding of financial data reconciliation and operational controls.
• Experience supporting global or regional banking technology environments.
• Mandarin communication skills would be advantageous for collaboration with relevant stakeholders.
• Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
