About the Role

Our client is a global consultancy providing marine, engineering, and technical services across maritime, oil & gas, and renewable energy sectors. Headquartered in Norway with offices worldwide, they are undergoing a major digital transformation and building a brand-new Digital Solutions Team in Kuala Lumpur to drive innovation and operational excellence.

This is a greenfield opportunity. You will be one of the first hires in the AI and Data team, with the freedom to shape the technology stack and define how AI solutions are built and deployed across the organisation.

We are seeking an experienced AI Solutions Engineer to design, build, and deploy AI-powered solutions that drive measurable business impact. Working alongside Data Engineers, Automation Engineers, and business stakeholders globally, you will turn business problems into AI-powered solutions, from Copilot assistants and conversational agents to custom models.

Key Responsibilities

• AI Solution Design & Implementation: Design and implement AI solutions using Microsoft Azure AI, Copilot, and Power Platform to streamline business processes and create commercial impact.
• AI Infrastructure: Build and maintain AI infrastructure in line with industry best practices, ensuring scalability, reliability, and cost optimisation across Azure and related platforms.
• FinOps & Cost Optimisation: Apply FinOps principles to AI workloads, monitoring model usage, token consumption, and infrastructure spend; setting budgets, alerts, and showback per team; continuously optimising for cost without compromising performance or reliability.
• Conversational & Task-Based Agents: Build and manage conversational and task-based agents using Microsoft Copilot Studio, Azure AI, and Azure Bot Services.
• Model Development & Integration: Develop, integrate, and monitor AI/ML models and algorithms; manage prompt engineering and responsible-AI guardrails.
• Enterprise Integration: Integrate AI solutions into existing infrastructure and business systems, ensuring secure data flow and seamless workflows.
• Security & Compliance: Ensure all solutions comply with relevant data security and privacy regulations.
• Performance Monitoring: Monitor the performance of deployed solutions and optimise for efficiency and effectiveness.
• Data Collaboration: Work with the Data team to ensure AI solutions are built on clean, well-structured, and governed data.
• Innovation: Stay current with AI trends and technologies to drive innovation.

Key Requirements

• Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in AI, machine learning, or digital solution design, development, and deployment in production environments.
• Microsoft AI Stack: Strong hands-on expertise in Azure AI services (Azure OpenAI, Cognitive Services, Azure Machine Learning) and Microsoft 365 Copilot / Copilot Studio development. (Candidates with strong AWS Bedrock/SageMaker or GCP Vertex AI experience who are willing to pivot to Azure are also encouraged to apply).
• Technical Proficiency: Fluent in Python, RESTful APIs, webhooks, and identity management via Microsoft Entra ID.
• AI Engineering Depth: Deep understanding of prompt engineering, model selection, context management, and AI security guardrails.
• FinOps Acumen: Practical experience or strong understanding of monitoring token usage, model tiering, and managing cloud spend.
• Greenfield Mindset: Comfortable with ambiguity, high personal accountability, and building systems from scratch without waiting for rigid specifications.
• Education & Certifications: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, AI, or a related field. Microsoft certifications (AI-900, AI-102, DP-100) or AWS AI/ML certifications are advantageous.
