Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Project Planning Engineer (Primavera P6) to plan, coordinate, monitor, and optimise maintenance activities to ensure smooth and efficient plant or facility operations.
The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and maintaining detailed maintenance schedules by aligning approved work orders with available manpower, tools, materials, and equipment. The role requires strong expertise in Primavera P6, SAP Plant Maintenance (SAP PM), work order scheduling, resource allocation, and schedule performance monitoring.
The Project Planning Engineer will work closely with the Maintenance Activity Coordinator (MAC), Work Process Leaders, Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), Maintenance teams, Operations, and other stakeholders to ensure maintenance activities are executed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with approved schedules.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and optimise detailed maintenance schedules using Primavera P6.
- Plan and coordinate preventive, corrective, and shutdown maintenance activities.
- Review and schedule approved maintenance work orders based on priorities, manpower, materials, tools, equipment, and operational requirements.
- Perform work order scheduling and confirmation to ensure maintenance activities are ready for execution.
- Align maintenance schedules with plant operational requirements to minimise disruption and maximise equipment availability.
- Allocate and optimise manpower and other resources based on workload and schedule requirements.
- Perform resource levelling and manpower distribution to ensure efficient utilisation of available resources.
- Integrate and utilise CMMS systems, particularly SAP Plant Maintenance (SAP PM), together with Primavera P6 for effective maintenance scheduling and work order management.
- Monitor schedule progress, actual performance, planned versus completed work, and overall schedule adherence.
- Identify scheduling conflicts, resource constraints, peak workload periods, and potential delays.
- Forecast future workload peaks and develop appropriate resource and scheduling strategies.
- Optimise manpower, equipment, tools, and other resources to improve maintenance execution efficiency.
- Adjust maintenance schedules to accommodate urgent, emergency, breakdown, or high-priority maintenance activities.
- Monitor maintenance backlog and identify opportunities to improve schedule effectiveness.
- Prepare schedule performance reports, progress updates, forecasts, and management reports.
- Maintain accurate planning, scheduling, and maintenance documentation.
- Lead and chair Weekly Scheduling Meetings (WSM) and ensure relevant stakeholders are aligned on upcoming maintenance activities.

- Ensure maintenance planning and scheduling activities comply with applicable safety, regulatory, and Company requirements.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance maintenance efficiency, equipment reliability, and plant availability.

The successful candidate must be confident in leading and chairing coordination meetings, presenting schedule updates, resolving conflicts, and obtaining agreement from relevant stakeholders.
Reporting & Analysis
- Prepare weekly and monthly maintenance planning and scheduling reports.
- Track planned versus actual maintenance performance.
- Analyse schedule adherence and identify performance gaps.
- Monitor workload, manpower utilisation, and resource availability.
- Provide schedule forecasts and recommendations to management.
- Identify trends and opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Maintain accurate records of schedules, work orders, progress, and changes.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of relevant working experience in the related industry as required by the Company.
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or other relevant technical discipline, or equivalent qualification.
- Proven experience in maintenance planning, project planning, scheduling, or plant maintenance.
- Strong working knowledge of Primavera P6.
- Familiar with SAP ECC6 – Plant Maintenance (PM) Module.
- Good understanding of CMMS and maintenance work order management.
- Experience in manpower planning, resource levelling, workload forecasting, and schedule optimisation.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent coordination and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to chair and facilitate Weekly Scheduling Meetings (WSM) and other coordination meetings.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and other relevant computer applications.
- Strong report writing and documentation skills.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Able to work independently and effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong understanding of safety and regulatory requirements related to maintenance activities.
