Job Responsibility
The Purchasing Manager reports to the Deputy General Manager (DGM) and is responsible for leading the Purchasing and Production Planning functions to ensure uninterrupted production and cost-effective procurement.
The role is accountable for developing procurement strategies, managing supplier relationships, optimizing inventory levels, and driving continuous improvement across planning and purchasing operations.
Key Responsibilities
· Lead and manage the Purchasing and Planning team to ensure efficient procurement, production planning, and on-time material availability in support of manufacturing operations.
· Oversee the review of customer orders, production requirements, and job Order Instruction Sheets to ensure all product specifications, quantities, delivery schedules, and customer requirements are accurately planned and executed.
· Negotiate commercial terms, pricing, payment terms, and supply agreements to secure the best overall value for the Company.
· Review and approve PUR/NPUR, and procurement plans within the delegated authority, ensuring compliance with company policies and internal controls.
· Establish supplier performance measurement and conduct regular supplier evaluations on quality, delivery, cost competitiveness, responsiveness, and continuous improvement initiatives.
· Ensure sufficient inventory of raw materials and critical supplies while minimizing excess inventory through effective demand forecasting and inventory management.
· Monitor imported raw material requirements and work closely with suppliers, freight forwarders, and internal departments to ensure timely importation and material availability to support production schedules.
· Ensure the correct Harmonized System (HS) Codes are applied and oversee customs-related documentation, including LWM, Form D, Form AANZ, Duty Drawback, and other trade compliance requirements, in collaboration with the Finance and Logistics teams.
· Work closely with Sales, Production, Warehouse, Quality Assurance, Logistics, and Finance to align procurement activities with customer delivery commitments and operational objectives.
· Analysis purchasing trends, material price fluctuations, supplier risks, and market conditions, and recommend strategies to improve procurement efficiency and mitigate supply chain risks.
· Develop departmental policies, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and key performance indicators (KPIs) to improve operational efficiency, strengthen internal controls, and ensure compliance with ISO, quality standards, and company policies.
· Lead continuous improvement initiatives to streamline procurement and planning processes, improve productivity, reduce costs, and enhance supplier performance.
· Prepare and present procurement reports, inventory analysis, supplier performance reports, and cost-saving initiatives to Management.
Academic Qualifications, Experience & Skills
· Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Procurement, Business Administration
· Minimum 8–10 years of purchasing and supply chain experience in a manufacturing environment, with at least 3–5 years in a managerial or supervisory role.
· Strong knowledge of procurement, production planning, inventory management, import/export procedures, customs regulations, and supplier management.
· Proven negotiation, leadership, analytical, and decision-making skills.
· Strong commercial acumen with experience in cost reduction and strategic sourcing.
· Good knowledge of ERP systems and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
· Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and team leadership skills.
· Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple priorities, and drive continuous improvement across the supply chain.
Pay: RM5,500.00 - RM6,500.00 per month
