Division of Accounting

Professor /Associate Professor/Assistant Professor in Accounting

The Division of Accounting at Nanyang Business School (NBS), Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore, invites applications for tenure-track and/or tenured faculty appointments at the Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, and Full Professor levels.

Applicants should hold, or expect to obtain before joining NTU, a PhD or equivalent doctoral degree in Accounting or a closely related field from an accredited institution. Candidates should demonstrate the ability, or strong potential, to conduct high-quality and internationally impactful scholarly research and to publish in leading academic journals, as well as a commitment to excellence in teaching.

Appointments are expected to commence in 2027, or on a mutually agreed date.

Qualifications

Assistant Professor

Candidates should demonstrate outstanding potential for high-quality scholarly research, as evidenced by a strong job-market paper, a promising pipeline of research, and/or publications or papers under review at leading academic journals. Candidates should also demonstrate the potential for excellence in teaching.

Associate Professor

Candidates should have an established and sustained record of excellence in scholarly research and teaching, together with evidence of international recognition and contributions to the academic community.

Full Professor

Candidates should demonstrate a sustained and internationally recognised record of excellence in research and teaching, significant scholarly impact, academic leadership, and substantial contributions to the profession.

Applications from outstanding candidates in all areas of accounting are welcome. Preference will be given to candidates with scholarly interests in data analytics and artificial intelligence, auditing and assurance, sustainability, and/or valuation.

Responsibilities

Successful candidates are expected to develop and sustain an internationally impactful research programme; teach effectively at the undergraduate, postgraduate, and/or doctoral levels; supervise and mentor students and junior researchers, as appropriate to rank; and contribute to the academic and professional service of the Division, School, University, and the profession.

Compensation, Research Support, And Benefits

NBS offers an internationally competitive remuneration package commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications, experience, and academic standing.

The School provides strong support for research, including reduced teaching loads for new faculty and research-active faculty, as well as generous funding support for research activities and conference travel. Faculty members also benefit from the research infrastructure and interdisciplinary opportunities available across NBS and NTU.

Subject to eligibility, availability, and the terms of appointment, faculty members may have access to subsidised University faculty housing. NTU’s residential campus provides convenient access to modern sports and recreational facilities, food and beverage outlets, childcare, healthcare, and other amenities.

Singapore also offers a competitive personal income-tax environment.

DISTINGUISHED APPOINTMENT AND RESEARCH OPPORTUNITIES

Exceptional early-career candidates may be considered for nomination to the Nanyang Assistant Professorship (NAP), subject to the University’s eligibility requirements and competitive selection process.

For eligible appointments, the NAP scheme currently provides substantial additional research support, which may include:

  • An attractive remuneration package;
  • Research funding of up to SGD 1 million and scholarships to recruit up to two PhD students; and
  • A dedicated White Space Fund of up to SGD 250,000 within the applicable overall funding cap.

All awards and funding are subject to prevailing University terms, eligibility requirements, and approval.

Distinguished candidates at more senior levels may separately be considered for prestigious University appointments, including Provost’s Chair and President’s Chair, subject to the relevant University criteria and approval.
