Responsibilities

Role Summary

We are looking for an experienced and dedicated Nurse Manager – Orthopaedic Ward to lead and manage the clinical and operational activities of the ward. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining high standards of patient care, managing nursing staff, ensuring efficient ward operations, and maintaining compliance with hospital policies and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the nursing team to ensure safe, effective, and high-quality patient care.
  • Oversee nursing assessments, care planning, admissions, transfers, and discharge processes.
  • Ensure adequate staffing levels and appropriate skill mix within the ward.
  • Collaborate with orthopaedic surgeons, physiotherapists, and other multidisciplinary healthcare professionals.
  • Supervise, mentor, and develop nursing staff, including performance management and training needs.
  • Ensure compliance with infection control, patient safety standards, hospital SOPs, and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage ward resources, medications, clinical consumables, medical equipment, inventory, and budget utilization.
  • Monitor incidents, complaints, and patient feedback and implement appropriate improvement actions.
  • Lead clinical audits, quality assurance, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and prepare required ward reports.
  • Participate in nursing leadership meetings, hospital committees, policy development, and emergency preparedness activities.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN); Post-Basic or Master's qualification in Nursing is an added advantage.
  • Registered Nurse with the Malaysian Nursing Board and a valid Annual Practising Certificate (APC).
  • Minimum 7 years of nursing experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role in an inpatient setting.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent clinical knowledge, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Good problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Knowledge of healthcare regulations, patient safety, and accreditation standards.
  • Willing to work on rotating shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
