Role Description
Based at Damansara Heights, Kuala Lumpur, The Executive, Corporate Planning & Strategy is responsible for supporting the Group's strategic planning, corporate development, and business transformation initiatives. The role assists in formulating and executing long-term business strategies, coordinating the strategic planning cycle, monitoring organisational performance, evaluating investment opportunities, and supporting corporate restructuring activities across the Group.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Planning & Business Strategy
- Support the development and execution of the Group's long-term strategic direction and five-year business plan.
- Assist in coordinating the annual strategic planning process across the Group, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives and priorities.
- Monitor the implementation of strategic initiatives and track progress against established milestones and key performance indicators.
- Coordinate and facilitate quarterly business performance reviews with business units and subsidiaries to evaluate strategic progress and identify areas for improvement.
- Conduct market research, industry analysis, competitor benchmarking, and business intelligence to support strategic decision-making.
- Analyse business performance, identify trends, risks, and opportunities, and recommend improvement initiatives.
- Prepare strategic reports, management papers, presentation materials, and executive summaries for senior management and Board meetings.
- Support the development of strategic frameworks, business models, and corporate initiatives to enhance organisational performance.
Strategic Planning Cycle
- Coordinate activities throughout the Group's annual strategic planning cycle.
- Engage with internal stakeholders to gather business plans, strategic priorities, and operational inputs.
- Consolidate strategic plans from various business units into comprehensive Group-level reports.
- Monitor strategic deliverables and ensure timely completion of planning milestones.
- Support periodic reviews of strategic objectives to ensure alignment with changing business conditions and market developments.
Investment Committee Support
- Support the Investment Committee by conducting research, financial analysis, and business evaluations for proposed investments and strategic initiatives.
- Prepare investment papers, feasibility studies, business case analyses, and recommendation reports.
- Perform market assessments and evaluate investment opportunities based on strategic and financial considerations.
- Coordinate with relevant departments and external parties to obtain information required for investment evaluations.
- Monitor investment performance and prepare reports for management review where required.
Corporate Restructuring & Corporate Development
- Support corporate restructuring initiatives involving subsidiaries, business entities, and Group operations.
- Assist in reviewing the organisational structure, business portfolio, and performance of subsidiaries to identify opportunities for optimisation.
- Support mergers, acquisitions, divestments, business transfers, joint ventures, and other corporate exercises.
- Coordinate due diligence activities and facilitate collaboration with internal stakeholders, legal advisors, auditors, consultants, and regulatory authorities.
- Prepare documentation, reports, and presentation materials related to restructuring and corporate development initiatives.
- Monitor the progress of restructuring projects and ensure proper documentation and governance throughout the implementation process.
Corporate Finance Support
- Provide analytical and project support to the Corporate Finance function on strategic financial initiatives.
- Assist in financial modelling, business valuation, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis where required.
- Support the preparation of Board papers, management reports, financial presentations, and strategic recommendations.
- Work closely with Finance and business units to ensure strategic initiatives are supported by sound financial analysis.
- Participate in special corporate projects assigned by management.
Business Analysis & Performance Monitoring
- Collect, analyse, and interpret financial and operational data to support strategic decision-making.
- Develop business insights through data analysis and performance reporting.
- Monitor business performance against strategic objectives and recommend corrective actions where necessary.
- Identify operational efficiencies, growth opportunities, and process improvement initiatives across the Group.
- Support continuous improvement and organisational transformation programmes.
Stakeholder Management & Collaboration
- Collaborate with internal departments, subsidiaries, and external stakeholders to support strategic initiatives and corporate projects.
- Build effective working relationships across various levels of the organisation.
- Coordinate meetings, workshops, and strategic review sessions with relevant stakeholders.
- Ensure timely communication and follow-up on strategic action items and project deliverables.
Governance & Compliance
- Ensure strategic planning activities and corporate exercises comply with internal policies, governance requirements, and regulatory standards.
- Maintain confidentiality of strategic, financial, and corporate information.
- Ensure proper documentation and record management for all strategic planning and corporate development activities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Strategic Management, Real Estate, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in Corporate Planning, Strategic Planning, Corporate Strategy, Business Analysis, Finance, Consulting, or Investment-related roles.
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
- Experience in business planning, strategy formulation, and performance management.
- Proficiency in market research, competitor benchmarking, and industry analysis.
- Ability to monitor business performance, KPIs, and strategic initiatives.
- Experience in preparing management reports, Board papers, presentations, and briefing materials.
- Strong financial modelling, business case evaluation, and investment analysis skills.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint; knowledge of Power BI is an added advantage.
- Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and drive strategic projects.
- Exposure to property investment, real estate, infrastructure, asset management, or investment-related industries is an added advantage.
