Job Summary

The Production Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily production activities in the wire harness manufacturing area. The position ensures that production targets, quality standards, safety requirements, delivery schedules, and company procedures are achieved.

The Supervisor will lead production operators and technicians, monitor production performance, solve manufacturing issues, and coordinate with Quality, Engineering, Maintenance, Warehouse, and Planning departments to ensure smooth and efficient production.

Key Responsibilities1. Production Management

  • Plan and supervise daily wire harness production activities.
  • Ensure production targets are achieved according to the production schedule.
  • Monitor manpower, machines, materials, and production capacity.
  • Allocate operators to production lines and workstations effectively.
  • Monitor production output, efficiency, downtime, and productivity.
  • Ensure products are completed and delivered according to customer requirements.

2. Wire Harness Process Control

  • Supervise wire cutting, stripping, crimping, terminal insertion, connector assembly, taping, routing, testing, and final inspection processes.
  • Ensure operators follow approved work instructions, drawings, samples, and specifications.
  • Monitor proper use and setup of crimping machines, cutting machines, testers, and other production equipment.
  • Ensure correct materials, terminals, connectors, wires, and components are used.
  • Identify and resolve production process problems.

3. Quality Control

  • Ensure production activities comply with company quality standards and customer specifications.
  • Work closely with the Quality Department to reduce defects and customer complaints.
  • Monitor common wire harness defects such as incorrect crimping, wrong wire length, missing terminals, incorrect connector insertion, poor taping, and wrong assembly.
  • Ensure defective products are properly identified, segregated, and reworked.
  • Promote first-time-right production and continuous quality improvement.

4. Manpower & Team Management

  • Lead, supervise, and motivate production operators.
  • Conduct daily briefings and communicate production priorities.
  • Monitor employee attendance, discipline, performance, and productivity.
  • Train new operators and ensure employees are competent for their assigned processes.
  • Identify training requirements and provide coaching when necessary.
  • Maintain good teamwork and workplace discipline.

5. Safety & 5S

  • Ensure employees follow all workplace safety rules and procedures.
  • Maintain good housekeeping and 5S standards in the production area.
  • Ensure proper use of personal protective equipment where required.
  • Report and take immediate action on unsafe conditions.
  • Promote a clean, safe, and organized production environment.

6. Production Documentation & Reporting

  • Prepare and maintain daily production reports.
  • Monitor production output, rejection, rework, downtime, and efficiency.
  • Record manpower and production performance.
  • Report production problems, delays, material shortages, and machine issues to management.
  • Ensure production records and documents are completed accurately.

7. Coordination with Other Departments

  • Coordinate with Production Planning regarding production schedules and priorities.
  • Work with Quality on quality issues and corrective actions.
  • Work with Engineering on process improvements and technical problems.
  • Coordinate with Maintenance for machine breakdowns and preventive maintenance.
  • Coordinate with Warehouse/Material Control to ensure materials are available for production.

8. Continuous Improvement

  • Identify opportunities to improve productivity, quality, safety, and production efficiency.
  • Participate in Kaizen, Lean Manufacturing, 5S, and continuous improvement activities.
  • Reduce material waste, production downtime, rejection, and rework.
  • Suggest improvements to production processes, tools, fixtures, and workstation layouts.

Job RequirementsEducation

  • Diploma or Degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
  • Relevant technical or manufacturing experience may be considered in place of formal qualifications.

Experience

  • Minimum 2–5 years of experience in manufacturing or production supervision.
  • Experience in wire harness, cable assembly, automotive, electronics, or electrical manufacturing is highly preferred.
  • Experience supervising production operators is required.

Technical Skills

  • Knowledge of wire harness manufacturing processes.
  • Understanding of wire cutting, stripping, crimping, terminal and connector assembly.
  • Ability to read basic electrical/wire harness drawings and work instructions.
  • Knowledge of production quality control and inspection methods.
  • Basic knowledge of production planning and manufacturing KPIs.
  • Familiarity with 5S, Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, and problem-solving techniques.

Leadership Skills

  • Strong leadership and people-management skills.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet production deadlines.
  • Good problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to train, motivate, and discipline production employees.
  • Strong teamwork and coordination skills.

The Production Supervisor may be measured based on:

Working Conditions

  • Work is primarily performed in a manufacturing/production environment.
  • May require standing and walking around the production floor for extended periods.
  • May be required to work overtime, shifts, weekends, or public holidays according to production requirements.
  • Must comply with all company safety, quality, and production procedures.

Overall Objective

To ensure the wire harness production team operates safely, efficiently, and according to quality standards, while achieving production targets and supporting continuous improvement in productivity, cost, quality, and delivery.

Pay: RM2,200.00 - RM2,800.00 per month
