About the role

Join a leading Asia sourcing team at their Singapore office. This role leads sourcing and supplier development across Toys and Sporting Goods, with a strong mandate to strengthen own brand programs, improve commercial outcomes, and elevate day-to-day execution.

Key responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end sourcing activities including product development support, quotations, sampling, order follow-up, and vendor management
• Own and execute category sourcing strategy, aligned with business and buying priorities
• Lead and manage a team of sourcing professionals (mix of senior and junior)
• Drive supplier identification, onboarding, and development to improve cost, quality, and speed
• Negotiate commercial terms including payment terms and supplier agreements
• Control critical path and on-time shipment performance; monitor key financial and operational indicators
• Partner cross-functionally with QA, Supply Chain, and Packaging teams to ensure compliant and on-time delivery
• Evaluate supplier performance and maintain vendor scorecards / vendor matrix; recommend adjustments as needed
• Work closely with internal buyers and stakeholders, contributing ideas and solutions rather than executing only
• Manage category scope including (but not limited to) fitness, camping, accessories, plush, summer toys, preschool toys
  
  

Requirements

• Degree preferred
• 8-12 years of relevant experience in sourcing / merchandising within hardlines categories (Toys and/or Sporting Goods preferred; strong adjacent categories considered)
• Worked in a managerial position before
• Demonstrated experience in supplier sourcing and development across Asia (e.g., China and/or Southeast Asia; broader regional exposure is a plus)
• Familiar with international product compliance and regulatory requirements relevant to the US markets
• Strong commercial and analytical skills, with the ability to monitor and improve category performance
• Strong stakeholder management skills, comfortable influencing and challenging constructively
• Proactive, adaptable, and solutions-oriented; comfortable working in a fast-changing environment
• Strong Excel skills (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP) and solid MS Office capability
• Fluent English and Mandarin to work with regional suppliers and global stakeholders; additional Southeast Asian language skills would be an advantage (not a must).

Desired Skills and Experience

- Manager-level sourcing / merchandising professional (no first-time managers)
- 8-12 years of relevant category sourcing experience (hardlines preferred; open beyond Toys / Sporting Goods if learning agile)
- Demonstrated ability to source and develop suppliers, propose new solutions, and influence buyers with commercial recommendations
- Strong operating rhythm across day-to-day: supplier set up, payment terms negotiation, critical path / on-time shipment, and vendor evaluation
- Comfortable partnering with cross-functional teams such as QA, Supply Chain, and Packaging
- Strong Excel capability (Pivot / VLOOKUP) and structured analytical thinking
- fluent English + Mandarin (to work with counterparts in China and the US)
