Location: Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
Reports to: Head of Engineering / CIO
Role Summary
We are looking for a cloud-first technical leader to oversee the reliability, security, and delivery of our core banking/insurance platforms running on [AWS/Azure/GCP]. This role combines deep cloud engineering (IaC, containerisation, CI/CD, observability) with governance and stakeholder management, ensuring our systems are resilient, audit-ready, and continuously optimised for the cloud.
Key Responsibilities
1. Cloud Platform Reliability & DR
- Own availability, resilience, and disaster recovery for cloud-hosted core applications.
- Implement backup/restore strategies, multi-region DR readiness, and production support integration.
- Ensure SLO/SLA adherence and change control compliance in cloud environments.
2. Cloud-Native Release & Automation Governance
- Drive CI/CD pipeline adoption (GitHub Actions/GitLab/Jenkins) for traceable, repeatable deployments.
- Embed security into the SDLC via cloud-native scanning, SBOM, IAM, and segregation-of-duties.
- Reduce toil through Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform/Pulumi/CloudFormation), Helm, and self-service patterns.
3. Operational Readiness in Cloud Context
- Define go-live criteria for SIT, UAT, performance testing, dress rehearsals, and cloud migrations.
- Maintain monitoring/observability (Prometheus/Datadog/CloudWatch), runbooks, and support handover.
4. Technical Leadership & Cloud Governance
- Mentor engineers on cloud best practices, design reviews, and capability planning.
- Challenge vendor cloud proposals and negotiate technical trade-offs.
- Prepare cloud architecture decision papers and governance reports for senior leadership.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Cloud Expertise: 5+ years hands-on with AWS/Azure/GCP (IaC, containers, serverless, networking).
- Industry: Must have current or recent experience in Banking, Insurance, or highly regulated financial services.
- Leadership: Proven track record of mentoring teams and influencing senior stakeholders.
- Governance: Comfortable with audit, compliance, and technical decision papers.
