About The Role
We are looking for an experienced
Financial Control Manager to lead the financial control and reporting activities for our legal entities.
You will be responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting, statutory and tax compliance, cash flow and foreign exchange management, capital expenditure control and strong financial governance.
This role will also review and improve existing finance processes to better support business and operational requirements.
As a key finance representative, you will work closely with banks, auditors, tax consultants, regulatory authorities and internal stakeholders across the business.
The ideal candidate will have strong technical accounting knowledge, a good understanding of local regulatory requirements and the ability to build effective working relationships across different functions.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead all financial control activities for the legal entities under your responsibility, covering both management and statutory reporting.
- Monthly management accounts
- Annual consolidation reporting packs
- Statutory financial statements
- Tax and regulatory returns, including VAT, corporate tax and payroll-related submissions
- Transfer pricing documentation
- Corporate secretarial and governance requirements
- Partner closely with business leaders, the Kuala Lumpur Shared Services Centre and the outsourced shared services team in Bangalore to ensure finance policies and procedures are consistently followed.
- Lead, support and develop the finance team, promoting effective teamwork and ensuring all deliverables are completed on time.
- Review the accounting activities performed by the shared services teams and ensure they meet internal control, accounting and compliance requirements.
- Maintain strong control over all balance sheet accounts, including accounts receivable, accounts payable and intercompany balances.
- Ensure appropriate reconciliations, reviews and controls are in place to minimise financial and compliance risks.
- Manage relationships with external auditors, banks, tax consultants and other professional advisers.
- Oversee treasury activities, cash flow forecasting and cash management to achieve the company’s cash-holding and liquidity targets.
- Manage foreign exchange exposure, including balance sheet and cash flow hedging, to minimise financial impact and ensure accurate analysis and reporting.
- Support additional finance projects and responsibilities assigned by the line manager.
Key Requirements
- A professionally qualified accountant, such as ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CPA or an equivalent international accounting qualification.
- At least 3 years of post-qualification experience, preferably with an audit firm background.
- Proven experience leading a finance, accounting or financial control function.
- Experience working in a multinational, fast-paced and complex organization, preferably within a matrix or decentralized environment.
- Strong knowledge of financial accounting, statutory reporting, internal controls, cash flow management and foreign exchange exposure.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a track record of improving finance and operational processes.
- Experience working with external auditors, banks, tax consultants, suppliers and other professional advisers.
- Strong leadership and people-management skills, with the ability to develop and motivate a team.
- Able to communicate confidently and work effectively with stakeholders at different levels of the organisation.
- Hands-on, independent and firm, while remaining a collaborative team player.
- Able to manage competing priorities, adapt to change and deliver accurate work within deadlines.
