Are you a seasoned customs and trade compliance professional who knows Malaysian customs law inside out? Swagelok Malaysia is looking for an experienced Customs & Trade Compliance Specialist to be our in-house technical expert — the go-to person for customs classification, valuation, permits, exemptions, and everything trade compliance.

Position Summary:

  • Monitor changes in Malaysian customs and trade regulations and advise the business on their impact

  • Review and resolve complex customs and trade compliance issues, and support risk assessments and corrective actions

  • Liaise directly with Royal Malaysian Customs, MITI, MIDA, and other authorities

  • Manage import/export permits, licences, exemptions, and their applications, renewals, and amendments

  • Coordinate regulatory inspections, audits, and post-clearance reviews, and prepare responses to authorities

  • Identify opportunities to optimise customs duties and taxes within applicable regulations — and quantify the savings

  • Evaluate and support applications for duty/tax exemption schemes

  • Support trusted trader programmes such as AEO

  • Develop customs and trade compliance policies, procedures, and improvement initiatives

  • Maintain regulatory references and guidance materials, and provide training and consultation to business functions

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, Engineering, or a related field

  • Minimum 7 years of customs compliance experience in Malaysia, ideally in manufacturing or industrial sectors

  • Strong knowledge of Malaysian customs law, tariff classification, and government incentive schemes

  • Proven ability to independently manage compliance matters, identify risks, and give practical, business-friendly recommendations

  • Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills
