You'll play a pivotal role in building meaningful partnerships with universities, employers and industry stakeholders that help future finance leaders launch successful careers.
The Role
This is an exciting opportunity for an energetic and relationship-driven Business Development Manager to help grow awareness of CPA Australia and drive new member growth across Malaysia.
You'll be responsible for building, managing and strengthening relationships with key stakeholders and decision-makers across tertiary institutions and employer organisations, with a particular focus on universities and student engagement. From running on-campus events and career talks to partnering with employers and finance leaders, you'll create opportunities that inspire students and professionals to begin their CPA journey.
This role will suit someone who enjoys connecting with people, thrives in a target-driven environment and is passionate about education, professional development and helping individuals achieve their career aspirations.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and manage strategic relationships with universities, academics, faculty leaders, student associations and employer organisations across Malaysia.
- Drive new member growth by promoting CPA Australia membership pathways and professional programs.
- Develop and execute account plans to increase engagement, recruitment and partnership outcomes.
- Deliver engaging presentations, information sessions, career talks, workshops and networking events for students, graduates and professionals.
- Partner with CFOs, Finance Directors, Finance Managers, Human Resources and Learning & Development professionals to create pathways into CPA Australia membership.
- Identify new business opportunities through proactive stakeholder engagement, market insights and account reviews.
- Represent CPA Australia at campus events, employer forums, industry functions and recruitment activities.
- Collaborate with marketing and cross-functional teams to develop innovative campaigns and initiatives that strengthen the CPA Australia brand.
- Contribute ideas that enhance customer experience, drive continuous improvement and support a positive team culture.
About You
We're looking for a natural relationship builder who is commercially savvy, highly engaging and passionate about helping people succeed.
You enjoy working with students and early-career professionals, but you are equally confident engaging senior stakeholders such as academics, university leaders, CFOs and HR executives. You're comfortable presenting to large groups, influencing decision-makers and turning conversations into long-term partnerships.
You'll bring:
- A tertiary qualification in Business, Marketing, Accountancy or a related discipline.
- 5-8 years' experience in business development, account management, recruitment, education partnerships, membership growth or a similar client-facing environment.
- Experience working with universities, students, professional associations or learning and development programs will be highly regarded.
- Strong networking and stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence at all levels.
- Proven success in achieving KPIs, growth targets and business development outcomes.
- Exceptional presentation, communication and relationship-building capabilities.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Confidence using digital tools, technology and CRM systems.
- A positive, collaborative and solutions-focused mindset.
This role offers the opportunity to:
- Make a genuine impact on the careers of future finance and accounting professionals.
- Build relationships with leading universities, employers and industry leaders.
- Work within a supportive and collaborative team environment.
- Develop your business development, stakeholder engagement and partnership management expertise.
