PXM Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. is an Electronics Manufacturing Services (EMS) company located in Bayan Lepas, Penang, specializing in electronics manufacturing, assembly, testing and packaging.
We are looking for a capable, experienced and hands-on Process Engineering Manager to lead our Process Engineering function and drive manufacturing process excellence, productivity, quality and continuous improvement.
This is a key management position for an experienced engineering professional who is able to lead a team, develop and improve production processes, resolve manufacturing issues and work closely with Production, Quality, NPI and other cross-functional teams.
Key Responsibilities
Process Engineering & Manufacturing
- Lead and manage the Process Engineering team to support daily manufacturing operations.
- Develop, establish and optimize production and assembly processes to achieve stable and efficient production.
- Analyze production problems and identify root causes through structured problem-solving.
- Implement corrective and preventive actions to improve process stability and product quality.
- Drive improvements in yield, productivity, process capability, cycle time and line efficiency.
- Establish and maintain process parameters, work instructions, process specifications and engineering standards.
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting for production and process-related issues.
- Work closely with Production and Quality teams to ensure processes consistently meet quality and production requirements.
New Product Introduction (NPI)
- Lead Process Engineering activities for New Product Introduction, pilot runs and production ramp-up.
- Review product specifications, BOM, drawings and manufacturing requirements.
- Develop suitable production processes, tooling, fixtures and process controls for new products.
- Coordinate engineering builds, trial production and pilot runs.
- Identify manufacturing risks during NPI and implement solutions before mass production.
- Ensure new products are successfully transferred from development into stable mass production.
Process Improvement & Cost Reduction
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives to reduce defects, scrap, rework, downtime and manufacturing costs.
- Identify opportunities to improve production efficiency and process reliability.
- Analyze production data and engineering performance indicators to identify improvement opportunities.
- Implement structured problem-solving methodologies such as 8D, 5 Why, Fishbone, FMEA, SPC and other appropriate engineering tools.
- Drive engineering projects that improve productivity, quality and overall manufacturing performance.
Engineering Team Management
- Lead, coach and develop Process Engineers, Engineering Technicians and related engineering personnel.
- Assign responsibilities and priorities according to production and engineering requirements.
- Set departmental objectives, KPIs and performance targets.
- Monitor the performance and development of the engineering team.
- Build a strong engineering culture focused on technical capability, discipline, problem-solving and continuous improvement.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Production, Assembly, QA, Product QA, Supply Chain, PMC and NPI teams.
- Provide engineering support for production issues and customer-related technical matters.
- Coordinate with customers, suppliers and external technical parties when required.
- Prepare engineering reports, improvement plans and management updates.
Quality & Compliance
- Ensure engineering processes and documentation comply with company requirements and relevant ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 requirements.
- Ensure production processes are properly documented and controlled.
- Promote compliance with quality, environmental, safety and manufacturing requirements.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum 8 years of relevant manufacturing/engineering experience, preferably with at least 3 years in an engineering leadership or managerial position.
- Strong experience in electronics manufacturing, assembly or EMS environment is highly preferred.
- Experience in NPI, pilot production, mass production and process improvement.
- Strong knowledge of production processes, process optimization and manufacturing troubleshooting.
- Proven experience in yield improvement, productivity improvement, cost reduction and process development.
- Experience in managing and developing an engineering team.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Good project management and cross-functional coordination skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Able to work independently and make sound technical decisions.
- Hands-on, proactive and results-oriented, with the ability to work closely with production teams on the factory floor.
- Candidates with strong relevant manufacturing experience may be considered even if they do not fully meet the academic requirements.
